This Chanel ought to be compulsory viewing in schools. Amazing engaging edumacashonal.

I couldn't believe it at first. My first thought was "there's way too much wiggle room, with a powerful transformer, and there's no way sound is gonna come out."
I sat stunned for about 30 seconds when I heard it. You, sir, are a legend. I've only been following your channel for a couple weeks but absolutely love your take on these kinds of projects. You inspire creativity in simplicity with complex concepts, and I hope that sounds right to you.
Love all your videos so far.

The speaker was already a blow-away, but using it as a microphone would be also very interesting. Real fun to see. Out of the box thinking at work...and fun! I've read some of the other comments, and we are in one accord. You are a star!

I imagine that "glue it just about here" drives a number of your audience nuts, and yet I find your videos among the most detail complete of any. Thanks

I love it, that was a rather unique build on how to move the cone. I wonder how good the cone would be if you polished it with graphene, hmmm - gotta be stronger at that point.

The best part of this video (AND the end product) is visually seeing how a speaker works. 😊 Someone with artistic talent could really make a neat design with this, producing "designer speakers".

the reason it is tinny is the hacksaw blade is relatively short and favors high frequencies as its natural resonant frequency . with a frequency divider network and some careful choices as to size you could get a subwoofer woofer midrange and tweeters with a resonant cavity for each and some pots to fine tune the balance between frq. ranges i think you would have a very nice speaker :-)

Supersized balanced armature receiver! Putting it in a box will also improve the sound as Rob Marrin mentioned earlier.

You can make a bi pass filter for bass with a inductive choke and a capacitor to bloke the higher freq if you want to make a bass and also a builders board enclosure with a tunable port. That should be exciting education about acoustics!

I just love your work. For a chemist you do much electromagic, it's awesome 👍

Great lil speaker, love your basic ideas, also thanks for the tip on how to best separate the steel Transformer plates. I’ve been wondering what might be the best way!.

a good source of diaphrame material I would think would be the mylar packaging of things like chips (crisps in the UK I believe) or the clear windows from boxes of say bakery items from the bakery section of a grocery store. (I have been saving stuff like that to use as very effective partial wave rectifiers, like I was using in my variable color (rotate to change its color) light filter. :)

Great design robert, just thinking off the cuff but maybe a conical coffee filter might give a more directional sound for the speaker.

You could make an electrostatic speaker with the transformer and cellophane!

You are turning us all into multi-talented experts. Many thanks again.

Well done, Robert. That's much higher quality audio than I expected. That actually IS pretty awesome.

works then with coil in orientation you've given. I wonder if it might give more output with coil rotated 90° so as to become parallel with the saw blade arm . You put that builder's board to good use.

How a speaker works in the most simple to understand way, great stuff!
If anyone is looking for a suitable track to test theirs, I would suggest 'Elastic plastic' by Mad Professor.... Seems appropriate!
