Edit: I'm aware that the first lyric is 'Owl in A cage', not 'Owl in her cage'. My mistake!

Since you all seemed to enjoy this so much- would anybody be interested in lyric videos for other helluva boss songs? I'd happily make them! (Also, a HB edit is likely going to be in the works, so stay tuned for that, too!!)

When he says “Comfortable lie”, it genuinely sounds like he’s crying and in pain

“Comfortable lie” that hits like fake love or fake friendship

this gives me "As the world caves in" vibes, and the comparison is surprisingly poetic and fitting

Some people think the singing is “bad” or “flat”. But if you think about it, Stolas recently woke up from a hangover after drinking a very strong alcohol, realised that the love he had for blitz was one sided, and is now singing in pain and sorrow. No one sounds good when going through such things. I actually really like the performance, I think it shows a lot of emotion.

I am aware that the first lyric is actually 'owl in A cage', sorry for the mistype!

Fun fact:

The music only version that was created before this version is named "Stolas speaks". Now that Stolas talks in this version, it's named "Stolas sings"

So hopefully, if there's a next version it could be named "Stolas echoes"

I heard someone say that this song shows how Stolas’s voice actor can’t sing but I completely disagree. Sure, it may not be the most technically amazing performance but damn it if it doesn’t show the emotions it wants to portray and send chills through me. I wish we could possibly get a longer/extended versions of the song because I just want to hear more!!

This song took a few listens to really grow on me. The melody was following a song that, I think, was used before as background music so the flow didn’t feel right to my ears. But the more listens I gave it plus Stolas’ following sentence was that he was contemplating which made the song feel like a string of thoughts and emotions rather than a musical setup. Which, if that was the point, is pretty neat.

Fucking nice, honestly I'm exited for a backstory for Stella, I wonder if there's a reason for her anger and distain, also I'm curious about when Stella first heard about the arranged marriage and how she reacted.

Some may think the voice actor isnt the best singer, but the way Stolas sounded and the emotion that was conveyed was absolutely wonderful to me. I could listen to this song forever.

i like how imperfect some notes are hittet and how plain it is - there is no perfection but a lot of pain relfecting his situation.

I'm still loving the "You raised your voice, you had no choice" part, it's my favorite part of this song ❤

I saw someone say Stolas's voice actor can't sing, but it sounds like Stolas is in pain and is so perfect!!

Stolas breaks me, he's changed so much.
When he said "your sweetness has run foul" all I could think of was back when he was a kid and had that cheerful tone in his voice and when he used to call Blitz "blitzy" or when he was getting ready to go to Ozzie's but now he's inside reality and he can't scape something that's completely surrounding him.

His "jail" the circumstances that he's in, the reality of Blitz's character. It just seems like he's always known but has refused to accept it. I'm pretty sure the whole episode was just Stolas reflecting after some liquour on how the whole "Blitz thing" started, reading it from another angle and noticing everything he missed, now fully aware of the lie.

Everything is working towards making Stolas miserable, all I can think of during the song is just Stolas against his family and their beliefs to try and search for what makes him happy, maybe compromising Octavia in the way. Thing is, no matter what direction Stolas heads towards right now, it's all gonna hurt. Everything will be so painful for him and I don't know if he can still count on his old cheeryness to make everything better. I truly believe he'll be so broken and hurt that he won''t have enough strenght nor pills to keep him going. He needs help, Via, Blitz, hell even Asmodeus, etc... He can't keep on being the "prince all alone upon his throne" or his power WILL be too frail..

Either that or he'll carefully work towards being that prince in a way that does not compromise his sanity and well-being. He could adapt a good mentality to face this with, one that doesn't have to be the old one he had, one thing's certain though, he'll need to heal before Stella's "threat" comes back to bite him.

This song is so emotional everytime I hear it again I write another paragraph, I can't help but imagine horrible scenarios in which Blitz doesn't bother to know Stolas further and due to a dissapointment he let's Striker kill Stolas for the Grimoire. I just feel like Stolas is a character that's being set out for tragedy. He and Moxxie seem to me like that one kid that gets killed first on "The Miserables" or Martha in "The Heathers", that one person that everyone loves that has to die or go through something horrible for the plot to move forward and for other characters to grow.

I can easily picture the confrontation of Andrealphus, to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if he sent a whole bloody army to try to take over and rid Stolas of his castle and home. I'm also worried for Octavia whom no matter what happens will be caught in the fire.

This episode broke me. I love Stolas so much and seeing him suffer so much genuinely hurt. When a show is able to make you feel those emotions you know that the people behind it are doing an amazing job!
