I think it's a great use for the desk and I agree with you on the age of it, looks to be mid to late 60's early 70's. A little brass-o cleaner for the drawer pulls, some steele wool and minwax  for the finish should be spot on.

This is great! Good for you for giving the desk a new and increased usefulness! The desk was made to be used and should be used as long as reasonably possible. The desk was made to serve people and not for people to serve it by never changing it or adapting it to the technology of a later era; we have museums for that. Too when the computer items aren't in use they can be moved so the desk looks the same. I'm becoming an antique: though I use computers I like to use a fountain pen to write letters on stationery and that kind of activity can still be done on your desk even with modern technology. I would think the manufacturers would be pleased to see the desk being adapted to technology they might in their time have regarded as science-fiction if at all. I don't know much about furniture but those handles have something of an Art Deco look and the fact it's made of wood instead of metal makes me think this was possibly made in the late 1920's or in the 1930's, maybe into the 40's?  The pared-down Minimalist look became popular after WWII.  Maybe there's a date on the back or underneath something though it might have been on a label that has been removed.

I love what you did with the cpu! I have been trying to figure out how to adapt an old desk to use for my computer and I never thought of taking out the drawer bottoms. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year!

this was a great way to put this back into use, Marty, great job! LOVE what you did with CPU, that was a fantastic way to put it in a concealed spot while consolidating space. Good thinkin! Looks great!!

Oh I really like it! Rhonda did good, she is a keeper! I think the only reason to NOT touch an antique piece it for resale value. I'm not sure of the date but I don't think its that old or should I say as old as me...lol.. I like taking old things and using them for something else. Happy New Year to you and yours!
