EuroCarBody 2018 - 20th Global Car Body Benchmarking Conference

It is the most important international benchmarking conference for car bodies in series production took place in Bad Nauheim, Germany, from 16 to 18 October 2018 and gathered over 550 car body engineers from all over the world. The globale elite of car body engineers met to examine the development, performance and production processes of of the most recently launched series vehicles from all over the world. In detailed presentations, the OEM engineers involved in the development presented series production bodies of the current model year and dealt comprehensively with the design, material and production concepts of the bodies. Further to the technical presentations, all attendees had the opportunity to inspect the car bodies as well as the corresponding complete vehicles on site.

The bodies presented were divided into two separate competitions. The "EuroCarBody Award - Volume Segment" competition stands for bodies developed primarily for cost-oriented high volume vehicles, while the "EuroCarBody Award - Premium Segment" stands for bodies that competed primarily for technology-oriented premium vehicles. In both competitions, the first and second placed bodies were honored with EuroCarBody Awards.
After their presentation, the car bodies were evaluated in four technical categories as well as in the quality of the presentation by the entire conference auditorium and by a jury comprising the international OEM Advisory Board to the conference. The winners of this year’s EuroCarBody Awards – the world’s highest accolade in car body engineering, annually awarded during this conference since 2002 – were determined by the ranking resulting from this evaluation.
