CBDC's do not replace fungible liquidity; the TRUST function must be backed by something besides TRUST.
The XRP approach obviates TRUST. That is the whole reason.

CBDCs can still be manipulated like fiat. Nations would still need to hold a basket of currencies. A bridge currency immune to CBDC inflationary policies implemented by it's host CB would compartmentalize inflationary policies. Holding the bridge currency would be become the viable (and smart) alternative to a basket of currencies.
