So sad to hear about Eric Carmen's recent passing! He was a great singer, songwriter, guitarist & keyboardist. He was originally with the group "The Raspberries" & they had a few hits with "Go All The Way" "Let's Pretend", "I Wanna Be With You", "Tonight" & "Overnight Sensation. Eric then went solo & had numerous hit songs in the 70's-80's such as "All By Myself", "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again", "She Did It", "That's Rock & Roll", "Make Me Lose Control", "I Wanna Hear It From Your Lips" etc.

At the time, this style of music was called "adult contemporary" and there were a lot of radio stations that centered in on that format. Many artists who were huge in the seventies but couldn't get much airplay in the 80's would often do their best to get a hit on an adult contemporary radio station as it would be the only way radio would touch them. Not the case here as this was a huge top 40 hit, but it still has that easy listening vibe that was tailor made for adult contemporary listeners.

Your mom is in good company. When shooting Dirty Dancing Swayze came into Blacksburg, VA to do laundry. He charmed some of the nurses from the Va Tech Student Health Service. Even a few years later women talked about how polite and how sweet he was. [ My mom was director of nurses when I was a kid, so she got gossip.]

This is an 80s pop song which could be called soft rock. I think its just a good pop song of that time. I was 10 when this hit the radio. Big hit, everyone loved it

I think songs were better in the past (and not necessarily even far back) because artists rose to the top writing their own songs, or being talented singers and musicians, not because of looks or social media clicks. There were prolific songwriters for some artists, but I think it was teams of songwriters that were on a short leash from those and them and not given objectives to appeal to certain demographics, it was just more organic, more natural and so you got a wide variety of songs and genres because musicians experimented more so it didn't just all sound the same.

Hello Miss Bisscute !!! Great 80 ' s song from the Movie Dirty Dancing with Patrick Swayze who sang the song ( She's Like the wind ) unfortunately I never want to watch that movie again for when I was Young the Had a 24 Hour Marathon playing this movie continously 😂😂
