Nice guide to my home town. Kudos for the pronunciation, too. None of this ‘Edinborrow’ nonsense! Thanks again for your contribution.👍

The Edinburgh Fringe is part of the Edinburgh Festivals which is collectively the world's largest arts festival so you went during the busiest snd most expensive three weeks of the year.

Accommodation cost during the festival is the highest it will be all year too which i best you can attest to.

Glad you enjoyed our beautiful capital. If you love the outdoors there are so many beautiful places to visit in Scotland, the fairy pools in Skye, Ben Nevis, Glencoe, the Cairngorms, so many beautiful beaches especially on the west coast to name just a few. I hope you come back for longer and explore 😁

Im an Edinburgh native and while I love my city and hope you come see more of it, Id highly recommend renting a car and seeing Skye, Glencoe, Culloden and Stirling(no need for car for stirling as hour by train from Edinburgh) as theres such a richness of beauty to see doing that especially as from your videos you seem very outdoorsy😁

Arthurs Seat and Victoria seat were some of my favorite spots in Edinburgh. Greyfriars Kirkyard is one of the most haunted places in Edinburgh, and seeing all the cool Harry Potter names :-)

Loved your review! I live just outside Edinburgh and am so delighted to see your thoughts. I have visited many, many other cities and other than Rome which I feel is comparable, come visit! ❤️❤️❤️

the cheapest option for long travel is coach. it's the least comfortable and takes the longest probably, but when needs must it's a great alternative cheap option.

You mentioned New Town twice without mentioning its fine Georgian buildings. Also down Princess Street (and free!) Is the National Gallery of Scotland – for when it’s too wet or too cold to be outside. You should also try the Edinburgh tram, it’s the easiest way to get to and from the airport.

Surprised you never mentioned 'Greyfriars Bobby'. A story of devotion. So much so that Hollywood made a film about it in the 40's. If you're a dog lover it'll make you cry.

Cockburn Street is pronounced 'cough' as in 'dough'. :)

While expensive, take the train 100%. London Kings X to Edinburgh Waverly. You can go mid day and work from the train after lunch if you want to avoid those after work trains and get there early. Same for coming back. You can order food, drinks, alcohol etc on the train.

The only time i'd suggest a plane, is if you're intending to go further afield and hire a vehicle, the airport has many hire car options.

Arthurs seat is like a 30 minute walk (one way) for fit people in trainers. Its not a "hike", the picture you showed is the crags, basically an ancient lava flow that has been exposed byt the elements, the small extinct volcano behind it is arthurs seat. You'd set off from Holyrood Palace at the bottom of the Royal mile, and there are a few small lochs (lakes/ponds) in the park. Nice to give yourself a few hours, but a flying visit up down can be done quickly. Generally i'd walk directly up to the top along the main route from holyrood, then go down the windy stair bit, and come back along the crags for a nice round circuit.

Just the railcard rec up front gets this the elite star from us. Also there is a family and friends railcard that covers op to four adults and four kids for £30

i do love edinburgh! one of my fave cities. Liverpool is a good one if you love music too. and has some pretty old buildings. not as many as edinburgh and no castles but there's a beautiful iconic docks and the liverbuilding (pronounced lie - ver :P ) and a bunch of free museums and plenty of shops xD but i say Liverpool always worth a visit if you can! Was named the European Capital of culture back in i think 2008 or something.
