#LiegeOfGames #boardgames

This is my list RIGHT now for my most anticipated games arriving to us in 2024 from crowdfunding. There are so many coming in the next year that I had to split the video into two parts. This one I'm covering #25 thru #11. Hopefully all the ones listed here actually DO arrive in 2024. Because we all know that always happens. And maybe I'm wrong at the beginning of the video and some of those we don't expect to arrive will actually and we will all be blessed with more games that we know what to do with or talk about or play.

...And at least I can't mess up too many rules of games in this video to skew my opinions.

Thanks for watching!

ISS Vanguard is amazing! I can see why it isn't for everyone. It's very flashy and full of content for better or for worse, but I have been so engrossed in the world-building and story that's being created in the game. I hope you have a good time with it!

ISS Vanguard is a 10/10 game for me. It has everything I want from a space exploration narrative game. This is the campaign I'm actively playing with my group and we are loving every bit of it. We enjoy the ship management as much as the planet exploration. The upkeep of a game never scared me tho.

been playing ISS Vanguard for over a year now with my gaming group...we're having a blast. is it perfect, nope. but it's really what i was hoping for in the game. Can't wait to get the new stuff in a couple of months. hope you enjoy it.

I've played through the whole first campaign of ISS Vanguard and I loved it. It plays very smoothly, rules are great (thanks to Paul Grogan), you won't need to watch how to play video. The game literally starts as soon as you open the box, all the setup is part of the gameplay. I loved all the dice management and optimisation, that's right up my alley. Yeah, there're some issues and nitpicks, but I want to play it again - I loved gameplay that much.
But it's a 2-players max game (I played solo), that plays best 3 or 4 handed. Might be an issue for you.
And I'm not a huge fan of AR. I hate Etherfields (though I've played through all of its content), it has tons of issues, expansions are terrible! Love TG regardless of all the issues, but I don't back anything anymore from AR😂 As you already know AR make big, beautiful, promising games, often pretty good games, but not fantastically great and polished gameplay-wise.

My largest worry is ISS Vangaurd. I was so pumped for it THREE years ago, now not so much. I worry that after a couple of hours with it that the mechanics will have grown stale. I hope the story can carry it.

I've played ISS Vanguard twice. First time was day I got it and second time was several months later. Definitely needs to be a game you play often otherwise you won't remember how to play it. Still like it, very interesting story and the game play isn't as complicated as the rulebook makes it seem.

I feel like Leder Games was extremely up front about how Arcs was in a very early state during crowdfunding. And it's not THAT different from what was crowdfunded. Anyone who is upset (and I suspect they will be just a loud minority) will need to remember the nature of crowdfunding and trust the process. Or don't crowdfund. I think it's looking like a real banger. Maybe even unseating Root from the top of the pile.

ISS vanguard is really good, but it is definitely a take up your whole table for a couple weeks type of game. I’m playing solo and have found myself playing a planet or two over a few days, putting it away, and then coming back later. Not a bad thing, it’s just a lot and I need breaks in between plays.

Holy hyperspace kraken Batman! How dare you say that crowdfuning projects will not be on time or delivering in advance. The mobs shall rise up with flaming pitchforks in protest. Personally looking forward to Arydia the paths we dare tread.

only a couple minutes in the first video and its painfully apparent that my favorite game that ive never played wont be included in these videos that they said would deliver next year when i backed it this fall. that aggregious, eronious, and outright dispicable. why shatter my dreams Chris? why?

that intro had me laughing

The crowdfunded games I expect to have delivered in 2024 are Mythwind, Endeavor: Deep Sea, Robinson Crusoe, The 7th Citadel, RoboMon, Stonesaga, Andromeda’s Edge, Creature Caravan, and Quodd Heroes. My 2025 games so far are just Spirit Fire and Wondrous Creatures. A few years ago I backed a lot more games than I do these days and I don't expect to have 25 crowdfunded games in a year ever again. There are plenty of games I was interested in but skipped like Old King's Crown, Defenders of the Wild, Singularity, Age of Inventors, Canopy: Evergreen, Coloma: New Prospects, Forsaken, Mistwind, and Rise & Fall. Maybe I'll get them if they show up in retail, or maybe I'll decide they are still too expensive.

You may be right about AR but FWIW they are splitting up the work between designers. Stalker free play mode and Xyrians by Michal Oracz and Sangrevores by a different designer. And they are delivering a ton of stuff between waves and language editions.

Was happy I've done split shipping for ISS Vanguard. Since then, I've managed to play through the campaign and then... I've sold it together with 2nd wave content. Just found the gameplay lacking and too much streamlined for my tastes. In the end, game became a bit too easy and not challenging enough for me. But if you prefer narrative aspects - this will be good.

I bought the entire Ourobouros Mythic Battles years ago and I told my wife "this is coming in 2021-2022 (can't remember), it'll be the ONLY game I buy all year" (it was $1000 CAD for all of Pantheon and Ragnarok) years later and it's only just coming now..they made it sound like Pantheon would be reprinted pretty quick with some errata fixes and push it out with Ragnarok coming later - it took so long they just decided to wait for it to be done and ship it all at once.

It is crowdfunding but there's been a lot of "Even delayed will be a year!" and then it's THREE.

I have been waiting on Freedom Five for so long I am no longer interested. Maybe when it comes in I will get excited but if not it will be sold asap.

ISS-Vanguard is great, but I'm guessing you won't like it. It's one of the most ambitious board games and really hits the mark. It just feels like the kind of game you will pan though. Etherfields was my most played game of 2022 and I still have tons of unplayed content. That game is amazing but you panned it after barely even playing it.

Since the funding of ISS Vanguard on 17.12.2020 my trust in crowdfunding has significantly decreased. Not just undelivered games, too many promises, but also unnecessary deluxification and - as you mentioned - too many changes from what the original presented idea/concept of the game was. Take a look at Diemension Games still ongoing game: Dawn of Madness. The overall design changes in comparison to what was originally presented is beyond recognition!
I also lost quite some stash on another crowdfunding campaign, as probably quite a few of you have.

Last but not least the still ridiculous shipping prices, that turn especially those heavy overproduced games into a luxury I am not willing to pay for anymore. And as you mentioned: Who is currently still talking about those old projects? People have moved on and the still to be delivered games are yesterday's news. My excitement has certainly cooled down substantially.

Regarding ISSV - I beat the campaign this year (took about a year playing solo) and loved it. My favorite campaign game to date. I think it would work fine as a two player coop too, though with some longer sessions if you do the book together. I loved the dice system. I loved the story. The book stuff was really good until you max out later in the game.
