This was very helpful - especially HOW to use these brushes. I also really appreciate your approach and the reminders to have fun and not take this all too seriously - I have followed your advice to cut out the good parts of a messed up painting to use on a card!

I’ve just started learning watercolor and so far I’ve tried the Princeton and the silver black velvet and my favorite has been the silver black velvet for sure. I found the Neptune to be too floppy I much prefer the silver black velvet cause it’s just stiff enough to give me a bit more control. 😊

Loved this video Ellen !!
Simple, Very helpful and straight to the point…and absolutely invaluable to us ‘newbies’.
It’s such a minefield out there and it can get very frustrating and overwhelming 🙄🧐🧐🧐😩😩
It is also very interesting to see these same brushes coming up as favourites over and over again from lots of respected artists on YouTube. 🥳🤗

Very helpful. I realize I am too restrictive with how I use my brushes. I need to experiment and loosen up more. I have lots of brushes but find I mostly reach for a 10 or 12 round.

My vewry first brush was a Princeton Heritage #6 round. I still like Princeton brushes, but I use bigger brushes most of the time. Still use rounds for the great majority of my work

Princeton, and Rosemary & Co, are the only two brands I use. I haven't even tried any others. They both hit that spot between great quality and great price. Finding paper and paints that you love, and can afford, can be overwhelming (and expensive!). So I just stick with these two brands for brushes. They make life easier, LOL

Thanks to your tutorials, I'm learning to use and appreciate my No.10 round brushes. I have the Princeton Neptune and an Aqua Elite.

I like all your suggestions and watching you use the different brushes. I recently cut up a larger painting that I wasn't fond of, and used it for a card. It was perfect as a card! As you always say: play! Thank you.❤

This was a very good video for brushes. I seem to forget there are others that can do different things! I like a reminder every once in awhile. Thank you!❤️

Tintoretto has a small dagger that Irit ( a YouTuber I follow) recommended. They sell it at Jackson’s. It’s great! The princeton Neptune daggers are also very nice. I really think you would love them. They are so good for spontaneous brushwork. I love the wedges too.

thaks so much for emphasizing the importance of practicing on the PAPER YOU WANNA use...sooo important...as ...like you mention...Arches...cold press 140lbs...is a challenge to get to really know...definitely not the same as like canson xl...cellulose...and your brushes will need a DIFFERENT kind of feel to them...once you try them on the Arches...so it is really not a waste of your paper...if you plan to paint on arches...play with your brushes on arches!...thanks for the great video....Janis
