When I was a teenager, my dad always said, "When you go out into the world, you'll be amazed at how many people try to rip you off."

The biggest hotel scam is the resort fee they charge you.

I was staying at a luxury hotel in Vegas and I was confronted with the front desk scam. I too was in a deep sleep when the phone rang telling me that the hotel needed to run my card again. I told them one moment, put the phone down on the nightstand, and went back to sleep. When I checked with the front desk the next morning, they knew nothing about it.

This happened to me a call in the middle of the night asking for my credit card # 💳 . I told them, "Are you sure you call the right room number??" He said, ' Yes, then I told him, '" Who are you looking for?? " Then hung up on me.

If someone can leave flyers at my hotel door, what does that say about the hotel's security?

This scam is years old. I worked at a Sheraton in Orlando for 11 years way back from 2003-2014 and this was happening back then. Where have these people been the last 20 years?

And it's not only the low end hotels/motels involved,
The greed of all corporations is evident these days.

I'd get dressed and go to the front desk before giving ANY info over the phone

NEVER answer or use room phone either! A call on that phone is rarely the hotel, or it’s an internal (employee) scam. Checking if you are in room bathroom, etc. assume there are tiny camera in your room, bathroom in multiple locations! It’s a sick world!

This is happening in hospitals, too. The hospital insurance coordinator came in at 9 am on day 2 and confirmed all that she had about my insurance. Then an hour later, some agressive sounding buffoonish woman called my room number, stating I had no insurance and asked for my info. I didn't give them anything on the phone and hung up an called the insurance coordinator. Shesaid it wasnt her team. I was sick and literally out of my mind, but I atill knew that call was some BS. It's a shame you can't even be sick in yhe hospital without these scammers trying you.

What sort of hotel allows people with fliers to enter the room hallways? Hotels that I stay, one has to have a room key to get into the elevators.
