Despite Portland's camping ban near schools, homeless camps return or remain

The area near the Metropolitan Learning Center is one of many where Mayor Ted Wheeler banned homeless camps about two weeks ago, but the camps remain.

Let’s cleanup the homeless camps near schools so the children don’t see just HOW irresponsible the adults are! Voting in the SAME people over and over again!

It’s not what you’d “rather” do, it’s what you are mandated to do. It’s not your choice! Were these people raised without following rules? If so, shame on their parents for not teaching them. Why are those who follow the rules picking up the tab for those who don’t?

Ugh, why is it that most of us have spent our lives following the laws and rules. Throughout adversity, we’ve all struggled, but we never just put up a tent wherever we wanted to. Life can be a bitch, but it’s a choice to say, ‘screw you, ’ and pop up a tent where ever you want. Our society is crumbling when we condone this behavior.

It's time to start using tough love on these people. Give them the choice to get into shelters, move in with family/friends or get out of town. Letting people live like this is not helping them at all. It's unhealthy, unsanitary and unfair to taxpayers and businesses. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

I am not from America and this whole homeless situation ABSOLUTELY APPAULS me . Why are they not arrested and put in prison., why do they get away with EVERYTHING. Why are they above the law!?

Why stay by schools or parks. That is ridiculous. It’s as if the don’t care because their situation is not good.
Yes, there are people using public spots as restrooms. My neighbors had to chase away a homeless woman who tried to use our recycling area as a restroom.
I moved to Portland in 2017. It’s only gotten worse. These homeless don’t want to be in shelters because they want what people go to work to earn or they want to use drugs. Either way something needs to be done.
