Quick answer: if you're having cheat meals sparingly/wisely (however you want to put it) and you're still able to lose weight, yes keep doing what you're doing. If the cheat meals heavily slow or stop the weight loss, have less of them.

My wife and I have been eating in a deficit for the last 4 months. We have a cheat day every Friday, but we keep it reasonable (around maintenance calories, maybe 100 or 200 over) the rest of the week we are in about a 500 calorie a day deficit. I have lost 40 lbs and she has lost 24 lbs. I typically lose around a pound a week now. We could probably lose more without the cheat day, but I feel what we are doing is very sustainable and the psychological advantage for us with having a cheat day is huge.

Cheat meals have never ruined my cut, it actually helps me stay on track, it's kinda like a nice reward but just have to have the discipline to go back to clean eating after.

I decided to go the route of suffer and have just will-powered my way down to 184 from 205 since July 10th.
1800 calories a day. On days when I know I’m going to dinner with friends I just eat a little less throughout the day and then not worry about how big the meal is I eat at the restaurant.

Making choices that are lower calorie but more satiating has been key. Diet sodas have been my go to as well as a ton of fruits. After about a month of sticking to it it has become easy.

Took me a while to figure this out…… you need to DETACTH yourself from food emotionally and not overthink this. It’s okay to go off of your diet. It’s also okay to continue on your diet when you’re eating out or with family. Don’t overthink it, if you find you’re not making progress after months then diet a little harder but overthinking cheat meals and stuff like this screwed up my progress more than anything

Something to keep in mind when indulging in a cheat meal: salt intake and subsequent water retention. I had two cheat meals one weekend full of super salty food. My weight temporarily went up about 8lbs and I was super bloated. Over the course of 5 days, I pissed out all that extra water I was holding and was back to baseline (136lbs). No fat stored.

Hi Greg, I was showing your channel back in late February by my uncle and a few days afterwards him and I had gone into an argument and he called me disgusting saying that I looked disgusting and this man had always been the nicest person to me and his comment was my main motivation to lose weight. It just hit so hard I'm guessing but after watching your videos for several months as well as other channels like wool tennyson, Nicole collette, Remington James and others I've lost 90 lbs by doing a 1000 calorie deficit a day as well as walking more I started off at 5, 000 steps a day for about the first two to three months and then opted to 10, 000 a day and about to be the end of this month I've upped it to 20, 000 a day the circle diet has been the most sustainable diet I've been able to do so thank you for your great content and information. My girlfriend has also been on this journey with me and she's lost over 100 lbs! Again thank you and a happy belated birthday!

I don't call them cheat meals, they're reward meals, and I have to hit a certain goal to unlock that privilege. It's one meal, maybe every 2 weeks, sometimes 3 weeks, and it's usually either a dessert I really want to pig out or something fancy that's worth it. Doesn't put me over calories majorly, doesn't kill me right after

This makes sense as I naturally lean towards a lower carb diet and when I do enjoy a cheat meal or sometimes a day and I don’t put on any noticeable weight, I’ve always questioned why. Now I can assume that I’m just filling up my muscle glycogen stores that have been low/depleted through the training and calorie deficit but certainly do look fuller in my muscles come Monday

I typically eat in a 200-300 deficit 5-6 days a week. Then there’ll be a weekend day or just 1-2 days of the week where I eat at maintenance to 200ish calories over. Still in a weekly deficit but the cheat really is a reward for my stringency. It keeps me sane and feels great. (For reference, I’m 6’4” was 202 and now I’m 180. Took about 4 months.)

Depends the bodyfat level. The leaner you are, the more you can have cheat meals.
Last week, I did 2 cheat days in a row, Im more ripped than last time !

Id rather eat "cheat meals" spread out throughout the week than dedicate an entire day to eat junk food. Every time I've done that i felt shit the next day.

thank you for this! I knew a cheat once in a while wouldn't completely de-rail progress, but this is great to see it explained. I was thinking only small cheats were okay but I'm really happy to know I can safely indulge once in a while on a larger scale.
