Actually on Mythbusters they proved that sneezing in a tissue bleeds through onto your hand and spreads germs that way and they proved that when you sneeze in you elbow, it doesn't go everywhere if you do it properly

If only people had a box of tissues everywhere they went -_-

The best way is to sneeze when you are looking downward and not forward. Looking to the floor while sneezing will put all the germs far away from the breathing level. Still, we need to use the elbow to cover the mouth as well as looking down.

This woman doesn’t know how to catch a sneeze properly. I don’t even need to explain my conclusion just watch the video...

I've always been taught to cough into my shirt, completely covering my nose and mouth therefore trapping any germs on my rack & after doing some research I'm super fucking surprised im like one in 1, 000, 000 that actually does this. I meannnn back in the 90s "cough into your palm" was sneezology 101 so I can only assume it'll take another 20 years for "cough into your blouse and make your husband question where you got that brand new pearl necklace when you walk into the house" to be common knowledge.

Well sure sneezing into a tissue or handkerchief is the best way...but the point of using your  elbow is to catch the sneeze when you are caught by surprise or unprepared, especially in a small or enclosed space with other people.

Just Sneeze directly downward on the floor .. (Or on a wall that no one touches)

You need to SLOW the air speed down. Sneeze inside your shirt or into clothing so that all the cloud has to go through some material.

The elbow doesn't seem to be as effective in stopping the droplets as we might have suspect (he says "better but..."), but there's also the issue of germ-laden hands touching things. Elbows don't do that so that's a related benefit.

I will never understand how people cough & sneeze into their hands. To me, that’s like blowing your nose onto your bare hands. It’s an absolutely disgusting & dangerous habit. Use your elbows, at the least!

Although tissues are the best, if you will put the elbow a little bit above the center of the mouth and not a little bit below the center as it was shown in the video, the results will be much better.

You need to dab correctly in order to catch all the spreading germs, amateur hour over here sneezed before they could even get to their elbow.

The sneezer who covers her mouth with her hand did not 'cup' them so sputum and disease seeped through her fingers.

When you are sitting in a lecture hall and someone goes "ha in a very soft way. You KNOW the person who did such a wet sneeze was from a rural area. What is it about rural people and their soft, wet, feminine, and quiet sneezes? Is it the fresh air making them so genteel?

The elbow sneeze in this video is performed completely incorrectly. To do this right, you need both arms: on arm to sneeze into, the other arm to press your elbow really tightly over your nose and mouth so the air gets pushed into/through your sleeve and not around your limb.
