The annual "Tribute In Light" at the site of the World Trade Center is canceled this year due to Covid 19.

For 19 years the 88-light art installation has projected 4 miles into the sky creating twin beams matching the shape of the towers that were destroyed.

A large crew is required to pull it off.

Organizers with the 9/11 Memorial and Museum say they didn't want to put those crew members at risk.

The museum had already canceled the in-person reading of 9/11 victims at the annual Ground Zero ceremony.

A recording of the names will be played instead.

This year's Tribute In Light will feature buildings across the city lighting up their windows and rooftops spires in blue on September 11.

Organizers say they hope to honor victims with the Tribute of Light next year.

That will be the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Please don't forget the hundreds of first responders who went INTO the
blazing furnace on 9/11 to save lives. Many were injured and 414
firefighters and police officers died there. This cancellation is a
willful act of disrespect to firefighters and police officers
everywhere. Only in shameless NY.
