Mr. Winston, thank you for your videos. I am a new photographer and your lessons have really helped. I started with a T7 kit last September to understand the basics but now I am a proud owner of a 5D Mark IV and nice glass.

I’d really appreciate some help as this is driving me mad. I have been using a Nikon D850 and a Nikon D500 with fast prime lens. I track animals by using continuous servo focusing, using a single AF point, putting the point on the animal’s eye and the D850 or D500 tracks it around the frame and as the animal approaches or moves away…no problem. I have recently bought a Canon 5Div as I am thinking of switching just to Canon. I’m getting terrible hit rates on focusing. The D850 is so easy. According to this video, the 5Div will only track in wide AF modes, not single points or small areas. It talks about tracking animals. Well, I want to track an animal but I want it’s eye to be in focus. I’m shooting at f2.8. It’s no good focusing somewhere on the body or the nose being the point of focus. I need the eye, or something very close to it. How can I track a ‘part’ of an animals body? On my D850, I simply place a single AF point on the eye, hold down my AF button (I use back button) and the camera will accurately track that eye around the frame, near and far, with a good hit rate. Can I do this on a Canon 5Div please? A friend who is a knowledgeable canon wildlife shooter says with canon you have to manually move the camera keeping the selected single AF point where you want to focus. So if the subject (animal) moves, you need to move your camera to keep the eye under the AF point or the camera will focus exactly where that point is. With a very shallow depth of field that will mean if you don’t keep that point over the eye yourself and move it over say the ear as the animal moves, the eye is out of focus. I really hope someone can help me with this because if it’s not possible it’s back to the D850 for me. Thanks. PS…if you’re wondering why I switched to Canon it’s because I like the colours a lot more. I assumed the focus tracking would work the same.

How do you get to this menu? I don't see it at all, on the 5D Mark IV in the AF purple menus.

I have a child's birthday next month and obviously they will be running around. When in ai servo and continuous shooting, I use a cluster of 9 focus points.Do the focus points have to hit the face to stay sharp.Im new to this type of shooting on my 5d mk4.When I've practised I'm seeing the focus points dancing around in the view finder, how do I know if I'm getting sharp contrast mages.

I shoot people doing triathlons alot so they are either on foot or on bikes. What settings would i use on my camera to try and get the best shot on my 5d mark iv? I just got it so im not too familiar with it.

Just one more thing, when scrolling through the focus point options, does the camera not track on all clusters.Just a bit concerned, apart from the single points should the other options be tracking.

500mbps JPEG Motion codec is the WORST decision you have made. Who decided on this? FIRE THEM!
