Can’t wait for the sequel: “When I get home from my job as a competitive eater and drink diet soda”

Annoying part is that a large majority of shoes have the narrow point while the ones that actually fit are scarce. At least in my experience.

My Dad had bunions and I had massive foot, torn arches, stress fractures, shin splints, and arthritic ACL issues from having the same narrow foot issues. Discovered barefoot running, and developed a morning routine where I spread my toes with my fingers regularly, and massage the fascia on the bottom of my feet. Ice massage with blocks of ice frozen in plastic cups cured and reset everything and make my legs feel brand new daily. Changed my life...

While there is not like one genetic disorder specifically linked to bunions, it's not correct to say that they are completely not hereditary. There are several genetic components that make bunion formation more likely, even in proper footwear/without shoes.

My Grandfather had serious bunions, he lived in India where getting shoes his size (US14) was virtually impossible.. he had worn hand sewed shoes all his life from Chinese immigrants who were shoemakers..
This video reminded me of him, a few years before him passing away, I told him that he's got Bunions. He laughed at the name Bunion! Still remember his laughter!
Om Shanti to my GrandPa, he was a good man

Genetics do actually play a factor on getting bunions which is why both my mother and my sister got bunions.

Finally! A podiatrist that publicly explains the real problem - narrow shoes/toe boxes.

My podiatrist told me there is also a hereditary component and I think he is correct. I like your content

Aside from work, I typically only wear flip flops when I go anywhere. Pretty much the same as your recommendation at the end

What I did that helped me a lot was the conditioning from tai chi where I learned to drag your toe open in the ground when you put your feet in the ground (they do that for extra stability). It became second nature to do it when I stopped moving so the toes are most of the day pulled apart (I do keep barefoot most of th day as well since I work in home office).

I am happy that my work shoes are not narrow
I work in them for 12 hours 4 days

Also-
Not wearing shoes at home (like we do in EU in most households) can help to either, slow it or neglect it depending on how long you wear narrow shoes daily

I wear them only on way to work, from work and now and then when I go to city

Narrow shoes won't affect you if you limit time you wear narrow shoes (I am 21 years old so I can be cappin, but so far I don't have squished toes XD

I agree. It's better to wear shoes that fit in the first place. And not wear narrow shoes or shoes that have toes that are too narrow. I can wear a size 12 shoe, but size 13 shoes fit me better and are easier to put on.

I gotta wonder, I have congenital bunions, quit literally a genetic trait from my grandma as we both have had them since babies, how much of this still applies. I'd love to avoid surgery in the future.

I'm lucky enough to have started an at home job a couple of weeks ago, so no shoes. My feet are already looking a lot better and less scrunched. The nails on my pinky toes are actually growing out the way they're supposed to. I never realized how bad shoes are until this job.
