This conversation is long overdue! I am a roaster and served many cups... it always surprised me when a customer would nervously appologize for putting milk or assist in their cup.... enjoy it how you like it! Thanks for this video! 🙌✌️

I like the taste and texture/mouth feel of milk in my coffee. I only use a dash. That's not going to change no matter how tasty the shot is. I've tried to like it black, from many cafes around the country and making my own over the years. :) I haven't had sugar in my coffee for like 15 years though. Each to their own. Coffee is great no matter how it's enjoyed. Coffee! mmmm coffee. 😆 ☕

The one thing I discovered when drinking black coffee was that I adore floral notes so much that I surprisingly ditched sugar altogether. I usually go beyond just adding sugar to coffee without milk, but floral coffee was a game changer.

That was a great conversation. Very helpful points being made about making the transition smoother and enjoying the stuff that you like, whatever it might be :) Thanks for the video to both of you! 😊

I just got into coffee about 6 months ago... bought myself a zp6 manual grinder the Timemore 078 (still in box) ...I'm trying to wean off cream and sugar as well but I still love cream and a touch of sweetener in my coffee.

I really loved this. I usually don’t like this type of stuff but you two are awesome together. My wife just doesn’t like hot coffee so that alone would be a step

It's so funny how 90% of the time you are looking for the Holy Grail of coffee and even so, you're "casual" enough to add more water to your Americano just to fill up that larger mug. I get it and can certainly relate.

I found the easiest thing was to brew a weak black coffee, about 1/3 to 1/2 strength. Then i justt made a rule for myself. I have one cup of black coffee before I i have one with creamer. Then I increased the strength gradually. Then I changed the rule to two cups black first. And in time black coffee just took over. I still use creamer in stronger coffees like Moka pot. And I never seemed to get the hang of ice black coffee

Love hearing the viewpoints Justin & Sara. I used to use cream and sugar, bit now drink my coffee black. I made the change when I did a diet that allowed coffee, but it couldn't have cream or sugar.

About 6 or 7 years ago I entered the world of specialty coffee, and recently I was able to get my wife to like my coffee, but with milk and some sweetener hahahaha
I have a long way to go before she likes black, I may never achieve it, but I keep trying.
Very funny video!!

I drink it all different ways (except without sugar added), because sometimes change is good.

When you mean a weaker coffee is it just diluting it with water or would you play with the ratio like lowering the dose?

It was hard for me to transition from soy creamer and sugar to black.

But when I moved to Japan (again) it was often hard to soy milk (pre 2019) so I was forced to go to no milk. Which lead to me tasting more of the differences.

Now I only add sugar to coffee I don’t love but I still need the caffeine.

Yes, yes, yes! You have captured the exact message that will demystify coffee and bring light roasts into consumer demand. Just like so many technologies that are originally harnessed by nerds, techniques and equipment will soon be affordable and widely available enough for the appreciation of light roasts to be added to everything that already exists. This isn't a mere leveling up, it will be a Renaissance. Welcome coffee 2.0 that will be as accepting as the world of alcohol where no one asks you to choose between wine, beer and cocktails; and it's more about what suits the occasion than what you like as a daily driver. Not that you can't have a daily driver either. Imagine the impact this will have on small producers just as it has had in the world of alcohol; but more international in its economic development. Do not ever let your message go!

What grinder/burrs do you recommend for Darker Roasts?

I see zerno in the background ...how does that compare to the timemore 078 (not 078S)
