For 3 minutes and 33 seconds I was taken back to the streets of a small town in Iran where I was born. The dry air mixed with my dead grandmothers delicious food, the strong exhaled cigarette smoke from my grandfathers mouth traveling towards my room, my young mother washing dishes over the sink, and my cousin knocking on our front door. We played on the asphalt and dirt roads in the backyard and alley. Nothing existed around us. My reality was to shatter when my father told us that we would leave the country for a better life. The strange taste of time.
