It was a pretty clean and clear transfer from Sony. There was only 1 scene that was pretty bad but must've been from the source material, but it was that scene with Cuba's dad and girlfriend. It scared me for a sec.

The atmos track is killer. My heights were active like every 10 minutes with helicopters flying over the various neighborhoods

John Singleton's best film also proved to be one of my favorite movies about life in the streets. Cuba Gooding, Jr. displayed early on he was going to be a respectable actor. The power of the film has yet to be matched as most modern interpretations of street life prove to be violent stylizations. While Singleton has taken a couple missteps along the way, this film still stands up rather well by today's standards. The motives and actions appear realistic, especially Doughboy's thirst for revenge. A good film, which not only helped improve Laurence Fishburne's career, but introduced us to Gooding. 4kmovies co

Regarding the audio mix. I thought it was well done. I felt like Sony Atmos mixes tend to overdo a couple of things, particularly in old films. Though that might be an unfair assessment, since my speaker blending skills have vastly improved since I got the previous Blu-ray release. So I got this one and thought what could they possibly have done to make the audio even better? To my surprise, I thought the dialogue was exceptionally clear. I was hearing words and phrases I hadn’t caught before, and I grew up with this movie. A winner in my book. Wish they would have included an audio descriptive track however.

I have the regular blu ray version and had no interest in this version but I seen it had a tribute to John Singleton, its 24.99 and I had a $5 certificate. I went ahead a bought it.
