Dimash - The Story Of One Sky - Lyrics - Analysis - Reaction - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy

I received quite a few requests for doing a reaction to Dimash's "The Story Of One Sky".

Most of the reactions I've done with Dimash have been almost exclusively from a technical singing point of view.

However, in this video, I thought it was much more important to really dig into the message of the video and what I believe Dimash was trying to communicate.

I hope you all enjoy and appreciate this analysis.

Can't believe what's happening at all
Piper's crazy, we're bound to fall
We are the reason, we are causing all
that pain
To the sacred womb that gave us life
Billions of hearts,
Billions of cells and souls and dreams
Billions of lives
Shouldn't ever turn to senseless horror

So, tears and blood
Won't follow death
They should flow
With tears of Life
With blood of birth, they flow

Last chance is here
Can we balance on the edge of fiery
grave?
Our future, is it possible to save?
So, when our crazy Piper's failing
We decide to stop the trailing
We decide to follow the light
We are making final turn to right
We are choosing life
We are choosing life

Learn to share again
Learn to share again the love, not shares
Learn to live again
We have passed the moment of
"Imagine"
World is the feast -
Do we have to starve?

Time is up
It's time to save
To save the Earth,
The Earth...
Here is last chance

Can we balance on the edge of fiery
grave?
Our future, is it possible to save?
So, when our crazy Piper's failing
We decide to stop the trailing
We decide to follow the light

Here is last chance
Can we balance on the brink of fiery
grave?
Our future, is it possible to save?
So, when our crazy Piper's failing
We decide to stop the trailing
We're making final turn from wrong to right
Just our final turn from wrong to right
We are choosing Life
We are choosing Life

Here is last chance
Pipers lead us to the slaughter long
enough
Staring down from the bluff we are here,
Time to wake, it's not a moment left to
lose
Night is falling, fate is tightening the
noose
So, when our leaders failing
We decide to stop the trailing
We are making final turn to right

We're choosing life
We're choosing life

This song is perfection both emotionally and vocally. To me, and I'm sure to many, it's the best thing anyone has ever sung and recorded, and the most valuable. There may still be questions about why so many people believe that Dimash is the best? I don't know, maybe only a robot will be emotionless after watching and listening to this video. This is a masterpiece of the century that will remain in history. #songofcentury #thebestuniquegeniussinger

Thank you Ken for such an in-depth analysis of the song! I didn't know there was so much symbolism and reference in the lyrics, and your clarification really helped me appreciate the song even more! I think if the lyrics part was better (more comprehensive) and just change a bit of pronunciation (it's not bad at all, but it can be perfect if there's a native speaker to help), this song would be more popular. The music that Dimash composed really deserves so much more!

Thank you so much for your wonderful reaction to this important video. Sometimes interpretaion is relative and as individuals we may see things often through the life experience fog in our own eyes . ( undertanding and the widespread promotion of a culture of tolerance, acceptance of others and living together peacefully) IS what most religions, faiths, scriptures are trying to teach us as a way to reflect goodness in our hearts. Or love for our fellow man. I understood this to mean that we are lacking all of this especially now a days. The root of many of the problems around the world and within our own Countries is devoid of these core values not being taught and practiced. The cultures within so many countries is to create divisions within. Were it by religious beliefs, political standings, economic standings (the haves pitted against the have nots), races pitted against each other .Who is better than the other, or which is most just in hateing the other because of hystorical wrongs commited often by those have died long ago. If we all practiced treating eachother decency, respect and maybe, just maybe kindness, we would have a closer sence of peace. I feel too many people have no idea how to treat others with decency and respect even feels like or what it looks like or what it even means to do so. This 60ish year old Canadian woman is perplexed as to how difficult this concept seems to be for far too many people. Why is kindness considered a weakness in some cultures? Why is treating someone with decency a fault or somehow an admition of agreement to their beliefs? What has caused humanity to utterly disrepect each others uniqnesses? Often to the point of hate or malas. Kindness, decency and dont we all hope to be treated in that way? So why is it so hard to treat others that way? Just a thought, from these foggy old woman eyes, looking at a world that is crying out in pain. Thank you again for your reactions to Dimashs art. I so enjoy you thoughful insights esspecially to how he creates such magic with his voice. Peace

This video clip is a beautiful work by Dimash, with a request for peace. A work of art that should be respected and valued. Ken, thanks for your reviews of Dimash. I've watched them all and they are very enlightening reviews. Greetings from Brazil.🤗☺️ 🇧🇷

Such truthful words Mr Tamplin. DImash is an Ambassador for peace who fights for all to have happiness in life. Those of different religions all needs to come together and walk out of the present darkness toward the light of our ONE creator to demand the end of war and killing of God's children; our brothers and sisters. I think what DImash is saying is that "tolerance" is referring to the love of the heart that we are lacking in the world, Mr Tamplin. You both are on the same "page".

Thank you, Ken, for taking the time for such in-depth comments on this monumental work of art. I was agreeably surprised to find out you had this background in film and history. OK, yes, I'm a Dimash Dear, but no, it doesn't means I will find everything Dimash absolutely perfect. Let me start at the end. That statement is not crafted by Dimash, it is in fact a quote from a document called "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together", signed in 2019 in Abu Dhabi by Pope Francis (of the Catholic Church) and Sheikh Ahmed alTayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar (Cairo). I believe what it is stating is that dialogue and understanding etc will cure those ills.
Back to the beginning. That medallion is actually a gnomon, which is the main part of a sundial, and some other commenters said, part of a mariner's compass. Whichever, the idea is that using the hole in that object, one can use the sun in the day, and the North Star at night to find either the time or one's location (depending on which object) and therefore by extension, one's direction in life. The dictator uses that as a symbol, but in so doing, erases the hole. This symbolically shows he has lost his direction in life, while possibly thinking he does have a direction or goal.
About "Imagine". Yes, it most probably refers to the John Lennon song. But when it says, "we have passed the moment of Imagine", it simply means (in my humble opinion) gone is the time we can just sit and imagine a perfect world at peace where all humans are brothers and sisters. We need to, as you pointed out later, stand up and "make a turn to right". Meaning not right as opposite to left, but right as opposite to wrong. Indeed, in a statement he made later explaining his message, he termed it a "call to action", so no, you are not getting him in trouble. That is exactly what he means. We, today, are on the brink of imminent disaster (on the edge of fiery grave) where we are probably the cause of our own extermination, whether through WWIII (thus the reference to WWII) or through environmental cataclysm. We need to act now.
Trailing: I find no issue with the choice of word here. Yes, Lillia the author of the lyrics, is not a native English speaker. However, as a poetess, this rhyming word is perfect in the sense that we are not just "following", meaning we know what we are doing. No, many people in this world are "trailing", blindling hanging onto the coattails of others, without trying to see where they are going or why.
Interestingly, you barely commented on the music composition or vocal performance, LOL! Me too, it took many viewings before I moved past the message and marveled at the music.

That guttural voice (when Dimash finds his daughter dead) utters a Kazakh saying: "People are travelers, on the road of life"

Dear Ken, actually I am a Dear, have been to all his concerts this year, Düsseldorf, Prague AND wonderful Almaty :) I have always appreciated your professional, interesting and honest inputs and I particularly thank you for such a long video, which may help some people to better understand. I respect others' opinions, of course, but let's give Ms. Vinogradova a bit of poets' liberty :) and, secondly, I would like to add some info regarding the words written at the end. I did some research, it stems from the "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together", signed jointly on 4 Feb. 2019 by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash has performed his song for the first time on 14 Sept. 2022, at The VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religion, held on 14. Sept. 2022 in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, in the presence of, amongst others, Pope Francis. Maybe this sheds some light on the text. I look forward to your future analyses, much love from an amateur singer from Vienna, Austria! btw, my jaw dropped at the concert when he performed The Story of One Sky (9:30 min) and I couldn't close it anymore through the entire concert, which was four (!) hours :)

I liked your interpretation of the song but can I say one thing. I have heard from a couple of Kazakh speakers that Dimash has a very different way of expression him self in speaking. He has a very symbolic language and he is very philosophical in expression his thoughts. They say he speaks very thoughtful and is not haste in his words. Just a thought of why he wants to express himself like in this lyrics. Love and peace.

Hello friend! Thank you for your sincere reaction! Dimash loves poetry and the messages in his songs are often shared through poetry. I'm sure that it was created in his Kazakh language and translated to English. Have you noticed that Dimash is the main solder right from the very beginning of the war scene, when he was shot in the arm, many people miss that? When I first watched this MV, it broke me, I became very emotional, it was heart wrenching, to say the least!😢

Dimash has worked very hard for 3 years composing the music for this song, and around 20 days to make this MV. It turned out to be his most valuable MV, in the ideological sense, ever made, a real Masterpiece! I believe that Dimash deserves THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE for his selfless hard work and tireless efforts, not only for this MV, but for trying to bring the world together in love, peace and harmony, through his music, MVs and many charities he dedicates his time to. He is a Legend and will go down in History.

The mini movie is full of symbolisms, it's the story of 3 youths, and the necklace which was made by the young Dimash and shared with his friends symbolizing lifelong friendship and unity. The Piper grew up and started a war, using the symbol of the necklace as the crest on his army uniform.

This is my breakdown of the story, as I see it:

1) Dimash, who was drowning at the beginning and at the end.
2) The Piper, the one who saved Dimash, and who became the leader, and who was killed by Dimash at the end.
3) The young girl, who died in childbirth, became Dimash’s future wife, had two children together; a daughter who was killed by the Piper's army; and the birth of a son at the end, who inherited the necklace from her mother…, they were all torn by the war.

Dimash said these words in that low grown voice (in his Kazakh language) when he found his daughter dead. "People are the caravan... Life is the way" .

I feel that the dictator chose to target Dimash's home location out of resentment, because Dimash ended up with the girl and the happy life. That is how I saw it.

For the symbolic aspects, Dimash is showing the different cultures and religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hindi, etc.), through throat singing, which is called the REQUIEM (mass for the souls of the dead), from different religions. The Pilgrim, Shepard or Wise Man at the end of the video was Dimash’s newborn son, born in his image and grows up to guide the Representatives of different religions and race from different Nations to the light, for a new beginning living together in peace, tolerance, love and harmony.

I’m choosing life!!🙏🙏

See you in your next reaction. Love from Canada 💖

These are my views on this amazing masterpiece The Story of One Sky - I have watched this many times and still find things out that i never thought of amazing video and i have said it before if anyone could bring peace i strongly believe Dimash could make it possible. This needs to be shared worldwide to show people there is another way. War is never the answer because the only ones to suffer are the innocent. Rewatched the song of Dimash today one line stood out to me One of the most profound lines in The Story of One Sky is the line "Learn to share the love, Not shares" Not shares meaning stop making money out of war rich people have many shares in companies that profit from weapon manufacturing making them richer while the innocent suffer sadly this is why war exists. MONEY, GREED and POWER.

The part in the video with the little girl and the people in the hallway were Dimash's family who had been wiped out the little girl whose body he picked up was his daughter, the baby that was born was his son who grew up to be Dimash grown up at the end!!! The Dimash at the end can also be seen as Dimash in the afterlife leading others to the light in peace. This video needs to be shown worldwide. Something else i noticed is in his dying breath he sang (We're Choosing Life) as he finally passed away now that is powerful

When the poet Lilia Vinogradova wrote about cells, hearts, souls and dreams, maybe she wanted to put both the material and the metaphysical, psychological and religious side of the human being: It doesn't matter if we are materialists, or religious, or philosophers, we are all under a single sky, "One Sky"!

I absolutely love your unexpected statement at the end. Change begins from within and works outward. Government policies, no matter how well intended, will not solve our problems. Throwing money will not solve them- although it can help. Peace, love, and “rest” begin within the heart of each man, woman, and child as they experience God’s love for themselves. That spreads into the family, community and so forth. “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.” Thanks Ken! You are one of the greats.
