Street Fighter? I'm 64-years-old. It was *HUGE* when 'Pong' came out. Knocking a square 'ball' back-and-forth, and 'bleeps' for sound. Then, when 'Asteroids' came out, I lost it. I thought I might have to quit school over that game. I was a master. The best around. Now I drive around at 25 mph with my blinker on the whole time.

In the area I spent my school years, we called it “Walls”, for obvious reasons. The Principle had an assembly and said that as it was a form of gambling, it was illegal and banned from the school. He was smart, and knew it wouldn’t stop, so he played a trick. As the majority of the games were played behind the gym out of sight of the main activity areas during breaks, the Principle set up himself and four other teachers. Two would appear to be patrolling around the sides of the gym but not heading towards the rear. This distracted the lookouts. At a pre determined time, the Principle burst out of a normally fire alarmed door right next to the players, while two other teachers stepped around the ends of a section of school fence behind the players. No one could run away as they were surrounded. The Principle then said that the game would continue until there was one winner, who then had to play him. If that person won, the principle would let the game be played but only for points. If they lost, they had to stop playing, and all the money the Principle won would go to the teacher’s end of year dinner. Cocky kid that won, challenged the Principle, and discovered the Principle had practiced to the point he could land a coin on edge against the wall almost every throw. The players agreed to stop playing, (Which they inly honoured at school.) and the principle gave all the money back to the players at the end of the year. (He had a brilliant memory and had been recording who lost how much.) They all got a small bonus, because he put the money into the bank and gained interest. It was around $200AUD in 1981.
