I started Dear Woke Christian as a response to the turmoil of 2020. I saw the error in thinking within the Christian community and I wanted to provoke us to think Biblically about issues. So I started writing letters. My hope is to stir up conversation and critical thinking above emotions. Though emotions are good in context much of what's being pushed is "Act now, think later". That's far removed from a Biblical approach and I wanted to stir my brothers and sisters to ask better questions.

I’m not a fan of DJT but I enjoyed seeing MVSU band. Eyes were on a HBCU worldwide in a positive way. I’m in Australia and I felt proud. Also, DJT appeared to enjoy the performance and it didn’t looked forced.

Be encouraged and don’t be discouraged by miserable Black Americans with prejudice and hatred in their hearts.The Democratic Party spent lots of money on Beyonce and Oprah trying to win the presidential elections and lost. Valley State you are leaders not followers.❤ Your performance will surely go down in history for many years to come your bravery and integrity will be remembered and never forgotten. Those kids were fabulous! I could have watched them all day! How amazing an experience that was for them. I pray none of the discontent from whomever the people are running their yaps takes any of that joy from them! Super proud of all of them! ❤❤❤

It saddens me when focus is put on color. I thought the goal was to respect and encourage each other as equals. To not judge by color but the character. That group of hard working young people deserves to be happy and proud of themselves. Shouldn't performers have the freedom to pick where they perform. Is the color of support a requirement?

Wait, Amanda Seals has been being polite the last decade? I suppose I've only seen the videos where she was sounding off. SO, If the marching band kids were performing for a democrat president then they'd have had an amazing memory to last a lifetime. But performing for a republican president? They had to march through a bit of fire to do this, which built their character & they still have a lifelong good memory. Who knows how many young people were inspired by them to be open minded? Mississippi Valley, America's Marching Band!!!!

If blacks don’t know why it shouldn’t support a man who doesn’t care for minorities (especially blacks), there’s no need to explain. Do what your heart feels. To all those black Washington politicians who supported 47 and who did every thing possible to get in line for positions. Not one of you was either considered. As for those black entertainers who got offended about blacks complaining, 47’s policies coming down the pike are not going to hurt rich black entertainers. It’s gonna hurt those minorities whose members aren’t rich; it’s gonna be lower tier, the very people who made them rich. Finally, MISSISSIPPI VALLEY WAS NOT INVITED! MISSISSIPPI VALLEY ASKED 47’S INAUGURATION COMMITTEE TO GO! IT’S BAND DIRECTOR IS THE SAME DIRECTOR WHO INVITED HIMSELF AND TALLAGA TO 47’s first inauguration in 2017. All press ain’t good press. Well, let’s see if 47’s going to increase education budgets for HBCU’s overall. He didn’t his first term and there’s no indication he’s going to deviate or do anything different this term. Time will tell..:

I don’t understand how they are different from Nelly or Snoop. It was not an honor to perform for someone who doesn’t protect our Black bodies. He used them as puppets. I think the band did great and any other candidate it would be an honor. This goes beyond everyday politics. The stakes are too high.
