When we’ve set out on a quest, and storms are swarming in the West,
And it’s a long, uncertain distance to a place where we can rest,
And the safest route seems risky, and the journey seems so long,
We smile and sing aloud a sweet and sometimes silly song.

A simple song, a sound that sets the scene,
A simple song, a serenade serene,
A psalm to lift our spirits and bless the heavy hearted,
It sails across the scale and circles back to where it started.

We sing with hope, despite the storm.
We seek a place that’s safe and warm.
If you listen, you will hear us,
Down the pass, across the isthmus.

Hear us answer when you call,
Though your voice be weak or small.
Join us, as we take our chances,
And our songs will soon be dances.

A simple song, a sound that sets the scene,
A simple song, a serenade serene,
A psalm to lift our spirits and bless the heavy hearted,
It sails across the scale and circles back to where it started.

When days are dark, we sing together.
Sorrows will not last forever.
Sojourning will soon be past,
And we will see our home at last.

Then we’ll feast on pizza, pretzels, goose,
Sausage, salmon, sorbet, mousse,
And dance until sunlight is seen,
Across the Eastern sky again.

A simple song, a sound that sets the scene,
A simple song, a serenade serene,
A psalm to lift our spirits and bless the heavy hearted,
It sails across the scale and circles back to where it started.
