Next month a new documentary will investigate the infamous stalker who trailed ABBA’s Agnetha Fältskog for years. Gert van der Graaf became obsessed with the singer - moving to her neighbourhood and turning his house into a shrine to her. But what causes a person to become a stalker? Criminologist David Wilson will be explaining the psychology of a stalker’s mind and sharing his own story of being stalked.

I’ve been stalked by an ex. It’s so frightening as you can’t predict what they’ll do next. Looking out the window to check, looking around yourself if you brave to go out, and struggling to live normally is all part of having a stalker. Thank god he left me alone in the end as he moved on to newer victims.

I’ve been going through this for years by one of the teachers at my son’s school. I reported him and he accused me of being the stalker . His word against mine ! And one of the remarks the staff at his school made was, girls stalk guys to. No one believes you when you are being stalked !

I was a victim of stalking by my ex partner 2019-2020 . Luckily for me, I managed to have a police officer who completely understood the crime of stalking. In Dec 2020, he pled guilty to stalking with intent to cause harm and was jailed for 18 months. I was also given a lifetime restraining order for me and my children. I'm glad this week is raising awareness to stalking as a crime as its ridiculously difficult to prove.

It's a long time ago now (over thirty-five years) and two colleagues and I were stalked by a sacked ex-colleague. He was sacked for gross misconduct. He only stalked the female members of our team. The police were absolutely useless and their advice included changing our phone numbers, moving house, changing jobs, putting our children in different schools. It was an awful time. It did end eventually when our stalker left the country (to avoid arrest and conviction for an unrelated matter).

I'm being stalked at the gym by a creepy guy. He acts friendly towards me but he is just always around me, watching me constantly. He knows my routine, times his own sessions around mine. He is always interrupting my workouts to talk with me about nothing, he tries to exercise near me all the time, he has begun to ask about me through other gym members, he tries to always touch me. He doesn't seem to speak to anybody else at the gym either, but seeks me out or waits for me to finish an exercise then appears out of nowhere to hold me hostage with another pointless conversation. He is always around trying to walk by and make eye contact. Even when I am wearing headphones, he'll tap me on the shoulder to interrupt me yet again. The guy is obsessed and is beyond annoying. He has even started to use the same lockers that I keep my gear in to cross paths with me and even tries to leave at the same time I do also. It isn't a coincidence when it happens over and over again.
He is obsessed and I dread seeing him. Trust your gut always.

My close friends stalker is still playing mind games he is doing the stalking for somebody else and for his own control. It's all about control control control.They were advised by a domestic abuse officer to change furniture around so they aren't exposed when he stalks and walks past them outside the house or front living room window. And that's with CCTV back and front of house.

whoever charged her with wasting police time for reporting her stalker deserves to be in prison themselves. disgusting. honestly, no woman can trust the police. they're so vile. they actively help men stalk and murder women and in some cases they do it themselves.

My abusive father stalked me and my mother after she divorced him when she discovered he was cheating. He would break into the house and stand over our beds for hours. I slept with a knife under my pillow in case he tried to hurt me since he had made it very clear early in my childhood that he was willing and able to do so. At the time I normalized it because my father was always stalkerish (following me around in the car if I left the house during one of my parent’s fights, texting me incessantly while I was in school or at work, etc.) I’m only recently starting to unravel how abnormal his behavior actually was. I got a PFA against him and moved out of the state so he no longer knows how to locate me, although he does call me on occasion with an unknown number so I can’t block it or properly report the call. I still fear the day he might try to find me again.

Stalked and harassed online by my former friends partner. Honestly felt like police couldn't care. I reported it and they said they'd send a crime reference over within 30 minutes. They also told my partner to report it due to it affecting her. I never received my crime reference. Next day, my wife calls the police to report it and while she's still on the phone she gets the text message with her crime reference. I had never felt so low at this point. Just goes to show they didn't give a crap because I was male. I did contact them the next day and they gave me my reference, but I felt like whats the point. One of the reasons it took me 3 years to even report it.

THE police i reported my stalker to I lost count how many times I'd reported him, the police did nothing. It took him to put me in I.C.U before they acted, then once they got a statement they left me too it and bailed him because he had mental health issues they said l, he ended up getting more help than me. In the end I moved home town's, and to date I've not told a soul where I am 🤔
