every year that we release an updated version of this simple wooden yo-yo, i reflect on how ridiculously fortunate i am. fortunate to have had time to explore something so seemingly frivolous. fortunate to have met other fixed axle warrior-monks along the road who have helped to illuminate hidden paths. fortunate to have had the support of players and craftsmen who see the value in throwing wood despite its fundamentally non-competitive nature.

you don't quit yo-yoing because you get old - you get old because you quit yo-yoing. i feel really lucky, and just as stoked as ever.
