"A slightly aggressive canoe"... The best phrase uttered in this conservation

I subbed to Drachinifel's channel because of you Napalm, and because his videos are quite good. Since small motor torpedo boats and gun boats are a thing in War Thunder maybe you guys could talk about the evolution of those in a future video.

CSS Hunley - never mind the Hunley sank 6-7 times before it undertook that mission, killing every member of her crews. She even sank at least once while still tied to the dock.

(33:09) Torpedoes sticking in the sides of ships hull, sounds like one particular anecdote *Lindybeige* shared about a Cromwell tank that just happened to be faster than the others in its troop. "That's funny?" seems to be the common reaction when ordinance behaves in this manner for whatever reason.

Didn’t they mentioned about torpedoes with small tactical nuclear warhead, or did I missed that? I believe the Soviet use that on their attack submarines during the height of cold war to counter NATO aircraft carriers.

55:00 The Russians still use Missile dropped torpedoes or it is still on some shipsthe SS-N-14 Silex aka RPK 3 Metel could be used for droping ASW torpedoes

There was an earlier attempt at a device similar to a spar torpedo, but also similar to a limpet mine, back in the US War of Independence. There was a prototype one-man submarine (mostly made out of a large barrel, with the pilot being the engine as well) and the idea was you'd pedal your way out to some convenient enemy ship during the night, drill into it's hull to anchor the bomb to it, then drop the connection to the bomb and pedal away before the fuse detonated it. It failed completely on the first mission when they discovered the hard way that they couldn't use it to attack ships fitted for use in the Pacific. (To protect wooden hulls from damage by a marine worm indigenous to the Pacific, they were sheathed in copper. The copper sheathing turned out to be effective at keeping the drill from digging into the hull as well.)

Thanks for making me know about this guy. I'm surprised he still helps you with videos, regardless of the fact he has massively more subs than you :D

I just found your channel, As an engineer and minor in history and 6 years as a submariner I am 80% happy 20% if only you knew.

During the 'Torpedo and mine' discussion there was no mention of something that already exists: The 'torpedo-mine' like the Mk60 CAPTOR which are bottom mines with both passive and active ASW torpedoes that can just chill until triggered and loose a homing torpedo even in deep water.. And that tech is pretty old now, could probably upgrade that for hotspots with remote triggers to make it part of much larger ASW sensor/weapons system.

I've read in some accounts that the Mark 14 had so many faults that unauthorized attempts by crews to 'fix' the problem served to exacerbate the confusion, muddling the data coming in needed to pinpoint the errors. Still, had the Naval Bureau of Ordnance been more responsive there would have been no need for submariners to fiddle with the torpedoes in the first place.

I think we should get land mines for tanks. They would only be allowed on light tanks and ifv's and wheeled tanks and can be very important in keeping enemies out of certain areas like the back alley on advance to the Rhine

What is this? During *Drachinifel* 's biography of Admiral King, I briefly referred back to his "Mark 14 Torpedo" video for a succinct comment, stumbling across this *Napalmratte* video on the infamous weapon
(the torpedo, not the Admiral, though both are fitting descriptions for different reasons).

Ivan Blaž Vukić, (Lupis), Croatian innovator, together with the British industrialist Whitehead, designed and started the production of the first torpedoes in Rijeka.
