I think a 1.3 should work fine. This sounds like your fluid tip may be loose. Take the air cap off and make sure the fluid tip is tight. Some guns may have a gasket behind the fluid tip that can fall out when the air tip is out. I would try to tighten it first to see if that fixes the problem.

I'd probably stick with a urethane grade reducer. Acetone is so strong, i'd be afraid it may attach the under coatings.

If there is no damage and the paint is not peeling or cracking, you can sand the truck with 400 grit sandpaper. Then use a primer sealer and apply one to two coats. The apply the paint. Follow the recommendation on the can or ask for a technical data sheet (p-page) Each brand will vary. This one says to apply a full wet coat followed by a medium wet coat. Thanks for watching.

Ok I want to paint my 86 ranger xlt matte/flat black. This truck is a daily driver but also a toy for off roading. What paint, primer, and others should I purchase? I have a gun and all that but this will be my first paint job.

Catalyst is chemical that helps the paint harden. However, it is not clear coat. Single stage does not require clear coat.

would reducer ringle clear coat or is it safer to use acetone as a substitution?

I have a question that doesn't pertain to this video, I have 5 point aluminum wheels on my mustang that the clear is scratched and faded on the finish. I've seen one video on YouTube that is a company showcasing their work and they reclear coat them. I was wondering if you knew anything about doing this? If its a standard clear coat they use or not? If I can strip clean and reclear my rims that have no damage to the metal I would love to save the $1800 it cost to replace them. Thanks

i just used that hot rod paint on my truck but i used the satin black, it came out nice. When you talked about reducing the paint by 10% what are you talking about? sorry for the stupid question this was my very first car I've ever painted ever!
