I never thought about the fact that when you “show it off” it’s absolutely not for yourself. You NEED someone to show it off to. Hence, you are doing it for other people to gain attention and validation. 🤯 Never really thought about that until she pointed it out

"Showing off" is generally self-centred selfish act at the expence or discomfort of others. So yes she is doing it for herself. Moreover, the fact that this mom does not grasp the concept of "showing off" makes her look rather shallow and primitive.
