POV: it’s 2075, your grandson is visiting and you and your friend open the shed, pull off the cover. It’s all dusty and a b series presents itself. the grandkids start whispering about the story’s they have heard, about how these motors where legends. you put in some new gas, prime it and slowly hear the car turn over. then it starts. b series idling like a absolute unit. so you decide to do one last pull and show them what it’s about. pull in 3rd gear. The engine is screaming they feel VTEC for the first time. Screaming 9k rpm 4 cylinder. And they fall in love with hondas

I’m old-school, I love the sound of the B series VTEC. The K series is excellent too and I’ve never owned a car with a K series, but I’ve driven in a couple many times. I still prefer the B series. I love the originality of the design. That was during the time when Soichiro Honda was still alive, even though he was retired before he passed Aug 5, 1991. He still oversaw the creation of a legendary quality engine, that was housed by The NSX, the Prelude, the Integra Type R, the Legend, & Civic Type R.

Nothing beats the sound of a b series at the top end

B engines are legendary, but K series just improved on that formula, big-time. You can't really argue that K series engines aren't superior. Honda surely spent many millions of dollars to research the improvements going into the K series from the B series.
But hey, the timing chain alone had sold me! I'm absolutely going to pick up a K24A2 swap for the EG.

I'm so glad I got surprised by the B16 in my del Sol. I thought I was going to go pick up a D16 VTEC Si. That's the day I learned about the B series proper. It's going the way of the dodo, I'm thankful to have gotten to experience it. Best $2200 I ever spent.

B series for me because it's easier to swap to, once maintained properly and keep it a reasonable power level it would last forever

B20 for myself and have heads to make b20v down the road. Love the low end torque that is linear for my light Honda chassis’s.
Agree K will be the safer bet but clean B builds will be worth more coin.

Nothing like a na built k24 screaming pushing 300+hp. Plus there's a ton of stock bottom 500ish hp stock bottom k's out there. But as a k series guy I do love the sound of a B. Love the sound of the b series

LSVTEC and B20vtec are the cheaper alternatives to build then the actual factory VTEC motors. I personally wouldn't molest a b16 or b18c because of them things being rare now. Plus, theres alot of b18a/b and b20b/z2 in junkyards.

I've got both currently 97 civic hatch w/ stock k24a2/5speed trans on boost w/built engine being put together on the side, and 98' civic hatch DD a ls swap turbo w/ ready to go semi built LsV and lsd/carbon synchro gsr trans, I love boost and understand the longevity is possibly a concern depending on circumstances and maintenance but I love both platforms ❤

Zero Issues with Parts for my B series

I own a B18C5, K20Z3, and soon a K24A2. I choose K Series all day. It's the better engine.
However, for any 80's-early 00's Hondas, I choose the B Series.
andydhillon
K series every time of you want to go fast. I would still say a b18c can still hold its own in a light chassis though. B series has more character though

Just wanted to say I love your videos man! I have a 1997 Integra and your videos are really great!

Always on point! Luckily for me, I started hoarding B series parts a few years ago. Part of me wants to save them so I can build a period correct build, but damn the prices they fetch will let me do a K-Swap pretty easily lol
dimitriliving
building B18 type R now. no issue on parts availability

I have a b18c5, and lsvtec and honestly bang for your buck lsvtec is probably the best for price to put and for future plans for boost.. I spent like 100 on a b18b block and 350 for gsr head and seems to me like the best way to make a cheap slow car super fun.. and I’m going to turbo it soon.. I also have an H series h23a vtec I’m going to use soon too.. I think H series is slept on but sooner or later I’ll start with my first k series but I need to put my research in..

Honda should be like gm and have a division for their old school stuff

*_I got to go with the original Type R motor from the 97 EK. 🔥 B series I also saw a recent video where someone managed to pull 2000whp from a B series motor._*
