Best car I have owned. I am enjoying the experience so far. Tesla should move the right blinker to the right and keep the left turn blinker on the left. I do not miss a "normal" steering wheel at all. Tesla does need to improve the overall quality and needs to follow through with driver experience but we all have to remember, 10 years ago, Tesla was a non player in the automotive world. Today, they changed the industry. Growing pains are a natural part of the process. Mercedes, GM, Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota are all brands that have history dating back 100 years in a few cases. The fact that Tesla is where it is and what they have done as far as influence is huge but going forward, they need to work on the after purchase experience.

I can personally testify to the safety profile of the Model S. My last one (pre-refresh, but same basic frame) was destroyed when someone drove the wrong direction on a freeway at 4:40 am and hit me head-on. I lost my glasses and was not even as sore as I get after a workout. The car was totalled, but I was fine. The other car, an old Cadillac, was pulvarized, the other person was killed, and their vehicle's wreckage quickly caught fire. I was so stunned at being alive after that, that all of the hypercar performance features now seem like an ancillary bonus extras after that, the sheer ability of this car to protect the driver from wrecks that are fatal or seriously disabling in other vehicles.

The service appointments(due to bad quality control) and lack of parts available, drove me to sell my Model 3 2021. The bad thing is they only tell you that they do not have the parts required to fix your car when you are already at the service center, which requires me to re-schedule another service appointment and take a free from work again. A simple phone call from Tesla service center could have saved so much time for me. But happened to me 3 times!

I have watched your channel for a long time and I took delivery of a Model 3 LR on Feb 8. Thus far I have found no production flaws. It came with the v11 updated UI. I have been aware of previous versions. When in doubt try voice command rather than hunt through menus, especially when driving. The suspension is on the rough side but I like how it handles and accept that it doesn't offer a marshmallow ride. Learning to watch the screen while backing is hard for me but it is growing on me because the rear view and side mirrors are pretty small. The blind spot cam is in the left lower corner which usually means my right hand on the wheel is somewhat in the way. I noticed that yours was in the lower middle. I find the interior lighting to be almost useless. I have been adding accessories, console organizers, trunk mat, bag hooks but am very annoyed that the trunk has no tie points. I can buy them but knowing where to drill that is safe... Tesla should have included a few. I am still deciding on how to park. I have a long driveway and a left turn to enter the 2 car garage with no excess width to make the turn easier. I can place it better by backing in. Adding a 14-50 outlet would be easier if I nose in. Backed in, would require a longer run for the 14-50.... 6" vs over 20 feet and more damage to a finished garage. I will live with the 120v 12A for some time before deciding. It actually works for me so far. So far being plugged in hits the 80% every night. I have been letting the battery run down.... still has 179 mile range which probably would be okay for the rest of the month.

Oh, I need to say this car is so much fun. It put's a smile on my face every time I juice it even a little.

I took delivery of mine right around the same time you did Ryan (same color too!) and I too think it is the best car I've ever driven. One thing about the horn, you can activate the horn by covering the right side of the yoke with your entire hand, which is much more intuitive and easier to do then pressing just the touch sensitive button

Just took delivery of a 2022 Model S LR after waiting 9 months, my first Tesla and EV. I'm blown away by the car. Getting used to the yoke faster than I thought I would. I can't find any QC issues like Ryan experienced. The only thing that puzzles me are some settings don't seem to work, like I set the car to honk to confirm it's locked when I walk away but it doesn't. And the car seems to do what it wants regardless if I have it set to unlock only driver's door or all doors when I approach. And one key fob never worked.

I traded in a 911 Targa for my Plaid and I don't miss the 911 even a touch. Best performance car you can buy right now, love it!

My Model X Plaid is amazing. I love it. I've had it for about two weeks. Everything your saying you don't like about the car I feel the exact same way. Since its pretty much the same tech.

I've had my Model S Plaid for almost 2 months now and love it! I would not go back to a steering wheel or stalks, I like the yoke better now and prefer the turn signals buttons as well. Same with the onscreen shifter, I also prefer that and have no interest in going back. I also love the little things like the blinkers automatically turning off when you change lanes and the auto gear selection when you hit the brake, very cool. Only changes I would make on the inside is having the horn be in the center of the yoke rather than on a button and put the blind spot video on the center screen rather than the middle screen. On the outside I wish it had the soft close doors that the Model X has, and kinda wish the frunk had a button to auto close it.

Can confirm phantom braking is an issue with our 2022 model 3 Sr
On 2 lane highways when passing bigger vehicles or vehicles in tight packs it would slam on brakes right before passing
An easy fix to stop that was to keep slight pressure on pedal but it shouldn't be like that :(
Everything else has been great so far!

Ryan - as an owner of the 2022 LR 'S' - with 3, 300 miles - I can add some things you didn't touch upon:

1) To your point - there is an issue with the audio options. I can add to your issues - as I have the XM Radio ap literally disappear every day or two. No one 'owns' this - Tesla claims XM, XM claims Tesla. A 'soft' reboot doesn't bring it back. A 'signal refresh' sometimes does - but not all the time. Bizarre, but I suspect others have the same issue.

2) As you are also in the LA area - you can verify what I'm about to claim: The autopilot will 'change' (reduce) the speed you're going when it sees fit - and raise the speed when it thinks appropriate. Several areas on the 10 Freeway have this 'issue'. Would greatly appreciate you driving thru the same areas - and reporting accordingly.

One final point - I too have gotten used to the yoke - and the lack of stalks - but the bigger question - to me - is whether such a setup is 'better' than the traditional setup. Certainly there isn't a person (lol - even Elon) who would swear that having the horn on a small, capacitive button on the steering wheel rim is safer than having it located in / on the center wheel airbag (for those old enough - French cars had the horn 'button' on a steering wheel stalk: That went the way of the dinosaur).

As others have suggested - they yoke should have been an option (or - a true wheel should have been an option).

Keep up the great work - it's terrific to see the growth of your channel.

@ryanshaw you keep saying this is the best car you have driving, can you list the cars you have driven? That will help us understand what you are comparing the Plaid to

Thanks for the video Ryan! I received mine in January this year and haven’t seen any of the negatives you had. Truly an amazing car.

FYI the driver center armrest on my Model S Plaid doesn’t make any sound when I lean or push on it so they don’t all do that. They should be able to fix yours. Mine is same vintage- September 2021.

Spotify - I'm pretty sure it's a Spotify issue and related to other spotify players on your account. It could be a coincidence, but I've noticed when I kill Spotify on my phone the car immediately connects to spotify, within nano seconds... lol.

In addition, on my Linux computers, I noticed ever since I got my Plaid those computers would randomly just stop playing audio from any sources. At first I thought it was random and a Linux problem, but soon after I realized it's always after I drive the car. Coincidentally enough, when I kill spotify on the computer all the audio comes back without the need to reboot.

I'm pretty sure this is not a Tesla problem.

Let’s hope Elon will have a look at your vids. But I think many other car manufacturers are catching up fast in the next months esp in tech features. Many have a really good ar hud, better traffic sign reading, no phantom breaking and overall quality.

Dude you nailed it. I have the exact same thoughts on ours. Especially the notifications covering the side cameras when backing up. I hope someone at tesla sees this and gets that fixed.

23:49. Can be useful if you're not sure whether your thing fits in the trunk or not. When you're loading out you figure out it doesn't fit, yet you're still holding it, so you then just press the trunk buttons without having to take the thing out and walk around the car to fold the seats down. Button press, push it forward and it's loaded. Not useless at all.
