"but to tell me you know my pain
is to stab yourself in the leg
cause you saw me get shot
we have two different wounds
and looking at yours does nothing to heal mine"
this is so good

"the problem with speaking up for each other is that everyone is left without a voice."

The point wasn't to say not to speak up for each other, but when a man speaks up for a woman it isn't for him to say he understands what woman go through, and not to put his experiences in the same categories as her. Because they are differ t types of wounds. Same as when a white person and black person are talking about racial issues. It isn't about who has gone through the most pain, it's just about understanding each other's issues. No need to compare the struggles, we all go through them.

"Do you know what it feels like to be black? To pop lock your way in and out of hugs, it is not a problem you want to sympathize, but to tell me you know my pain is to stab yourself in the leg cause you saw me get shot. We have two different wounds and looking at yours does nothing to heal mine."

I had to pause the video after that cause it hit so hard.

"You speak to know pain you only fathom because we told you it was there. You know nothing of silence, until someone who can not know your pain tells you how to fix it."

As a young poet, I come to this channel for inspiration and for clarification on things I don't quite understand. This channel has opened so many doors for me and its clarified so many struggles that many face. As a girl, I can only relate to one part of this poem since I am not black. But both parts still hit home.
I look forward to viewing more poetry on this channel.
Thank you for inspiring a girl who lost her way
but found herself in her own words.

"You speak to know pain you only fathom because we told you it was there." the most moving words I have ever heard in my entire life. Every single time I watch this, and it is often, the line gives me chills. Every single time I have to pause and think about that line.
