I was a NYPD cop in the South Bronx from the early 80's to my retirement in the mid 2000"s. And we would tell the new rookies fresh on the streets of the South Bronx, there are many things to remember out here to survive but one of the most important things to remember always wave to Mister Softee and never ever give Mr. Softee a hard time. Mr. Softee always did the right thing by us and the neighborhood!!! Always look out for Mr.

My local og Mr Softee passed a few years back but sold it to his number 2 a young Spanish buck and he's killing it since he took over. But og was like 75 lol he was my parents Mr softee. He'd give out free cones at the end of summer. God rest his soul

Had 2 in my neighborhood in the 70's. Both drivers were awesome. Sal and Franco. They'd stop on my block and always lookout for us kids. Sometimes there were like 30 of us cramming to get stuff.
Those sweltering hot NJ summers were brutal but it never mattered with Softee around. Now there's only one truck left in town. Same family still owns it. Every summer I go back to NJ and never miss the truck. This is a good part of life.

Many believe that the Mister Softee Ice Cream truck is an NYC thing. Yet, actually this company was founded and still operates in Philadelphia. Mister Softee was founded in 1956 by brothers William Aloysius Conway (1922–2004) and James Francis Conway (1927–2006) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
