HUGE Adobe Camera Raw 14.4 - Masking Update!

Our mid-year update to Adobe Camera Raw is HUGE! While the features they included are seemingly small, their implementation in your workflow is incredible.

Last year we received masking in Adobe Camera Raw, which turned our local adjustment tools into selection powerhouses. But, they came with some frustrating limitations. The main limitation was the inability to copy an AI selection like skies or subjects and use them on other images.

Well, that is all changed! Check it out!

Finally, they fixed it! I've been so frustrated with masking in ACR and LR since they introduced the new tools because of the inability to duplicate AND INVERT the base mask when it contains several masking layers. I don't know if it's my system, but even inverting all the mask elements individually would not work, and I'd end up rebuilding the same mask in reverse. That was a big problem because it wasted so much time - but this update makes mask inversion work like it should have in the first place. Introducing the ability to copy masks between images and even create presets is a bonus as well, so yes this is a very significant update. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for always being our Paul Harvey! Now I know the rest of the story. Not having to invert, invert and invert down the stack is awesome!

This is great! I've been been doing the copy and invert mask thing for awhile. It's nice to have it in tap of a menu.

Yes a major small improvement. Another improvement I find equally great for workflow is that now the Amount slider is exposed and accessible when ever you work on a mask versus the old way of accessing via and arrow to reveal. To me the amount slider allows me to get things where I want them for a mask and then use the amount slider to tweak that adjustment. And now it's right there at my finger

I didn’t even know Camera Raw had Sky and Subject selection (I knew of course Photoshop did)! This is all amazing and the Preset option WOW!!

Great Video, THANK YOU.
A quick question ?
Is there a way to also Replace Sky within the Masking ?
Or, is the only way to Replace Sky first, and then proceed to the Masking Panel !

It looks like at 7:42 it also copied over the mask you did there with the brush in addition to copying and reapplying the AI mask so gotta be careful with that, but I guess the brush mask could be deleted separately once the mask has been copied over?
