150fps+ In Microsoft Flight Simulator - RTX 4090 Thoughts On DLSS 3.0

The GeForce RTX 4090 delivers some impressive performance boosts in Microsoft Flight Simulator using DLSS 3.0. This brings some significant frame rate increases even in the most CPU limited locations. The RTX 4090 was provided by Nvidia.

Swap DLSS with TAA in the Anti-aliasing setting. You will still be able to use Frame Generation, but the sim will look even better! It's especially noticeable when you look at water.

Locked behind a crazy price . Anyone on AM4 playing MSFS2020 5800x3d is your goto cpu and pairs nicely with this card

Thanks for your video. The 4090 shines at higher resolution. Put the renderscale in Msfs to 130 or higher and you will see that the GPU gets over 50% and the FPS are rising. In VR I get 2 times more FPS than with my 3090. Msfs is by the way not CPU bound. The problem is that only a few cores are used. It is not very good in multithreading. But that has nothing do do with the performance of the 4090.
That card is like a turbo engine. It needs higher resolution. For example in VR
In normal TAA or DLSS mode it is likely as fast as a 3090. DLSS 3 is not really efficient ATM and you definitely see any difference while flying.
For 2D flying the card is absolutely not necessary. But essentially for VR flying.

With DLSS3 there are issues with ghosting digits EG when you're climbing and you watch your altitude/speed readings the digit's
motion blur.I don't understand why this isn't spoken about! It makes DLSS basically useless with glass cockpits

After you mentioned the usage of wattage, i noticed it actually went to 350+ watts multiple times over longer times. Yeah, it's a lovely card.... massively big and massively priced. And it still depends on the combo of MB, CPU and memory, as the game has always been. And thanks for the comparison video!!

Still rocking the 2070S. Manage to get 60fps in most areas with mostly high graphics. Don't mind one bit

I got my 4090 last week and are super impressed. I get 100fps in atmospheric clouds at very high even in star citizen which is far more punishing on gpus than optimized games. The RTX4090 is just ridiculously fast.

I'm still on my RTX 3070 and I lock my frames at 30fps. It always looks beautiful and smooth to me, but I must admit, your demonstration here is phenomenal.

The new X3D amd chips should be amazing with this sim

MSFS is absolutely the best visual game i have ever seen. (well google earth in VR comes close ) but i just use VR only, i think we still need much more power. Owning a 4090 now but cant wait to get my hands on a 5090 or even 6090 in 6 years. By then Unreal6 will make everything so foto realistic we wont be able to see the difference between VR and the real world. And 6 years is not long anymore ;-)

That overhead shot of the Jet at 13:28 is worth an oscar. Great review!!!!

I wasn't going to get the 4090. My system is a year old, all white, stunning looking with a 3090, and cost shy of 8K. BUT ... I had a chance to buy a white 4090 last week and couldn't help myself. I bought one and don't regret it at all. Stupid money for sure, but what can I say.

Not for the price NVIDIA! No matter how many cards you throw at content creators!

Nvidia is so desperate to sell 4000 series and no one wants them because of the price. It's cool seeing these framerates (although the artifacting is terrible), but please don't buy these cards until they come down in price AND iron out the issues with DLSS 3.

MSFS really hasn't been CPU limited for years, in fact it moved away from being CPU bound back in DTG FSW when they took the FSX code and ported it to 64 bit and made it multi threaded and focused on pushing more onto the GPU. Asobo inhertited DTG's data and all the work they had done in the port and then built further on it for MSFS and replaced a ton of stuff as well.

Absolutely love the 4090. Ultra settings in my HP Reverb G2 is an absolutel marvel, I don't even use DLSS 3.0 as that's not supported in VR but of course you can still get synthetic frames through MSFS (ugly) and OpenXR reprojection or most probably with whatever VR base software you are using. The 4090 is a beast of a card but expensive for what it is if you don't need the extra performance. My personal view was it was an instant buy and I've absolutely loving my simming right now.

I just installed a RTX 4090 as well, but in MS Flightsim it shows 0 to 1% usage?! CPU is a i7-11700K, so not the slowest too... The monitor shows really high FPS, but the actual picture is stuttering heavily, especially over cities.. Any tipps of how to improve?

I’m looking at changing my 3080 for a 4080 in the summer, but cannot justify the cost of a 4090. I get min 25fps on ultra in 1080p coming over London at 3k feet on final into EGLL. This for me is perfectly acceptable in what is mostly a GA and commercial sim.

I bought a 4070. Despite being no where as powerful as the 4090 its is the best investment I have made for this sim along with the 5800X3D! I had an AMD GPU and that was problematic with X-PLANE 12. I'll be sticking with Nvidia moving forward!
