Gorgeous song with a HUGE soundscape. That double bass intro/outro is absolutely ridiculous. The end gets heavier and heavier to the point where it feels like a literal anchor tied to you. Probably intended lol.

Pain with an Anchor is a 10/10 song. Magnificent. One of the best modern metal songs ever made, which is incredible considering that it's 20 years into their career!

BTW, I don't know if you've caught them live, but they do a great live version of this song as well. I saw them with Gojira two days ago, and it was fantastic!

Brann dailor is a adhd drummer for sure, love it. And does it while singing in live shows.

Good stuff man, mastodon fuckin rules, best discography in metal the last 2 decades Imo. Brann Dailor is the best drummer/singer combo in the business, fuckin insane talent.
