Time to install the timing cover on my 1964 Chevy 283 budget build. I don’t have to put it on now, but I’m doing it to keep dust and debris from getting all over the timing chain. It’s the final step of all the cleaning and painting and seal installing on this part.

Holy cow... are you an old soul or what? I haven't seen gasket shellac in a long time! That shit gets everywhere but the surfaces you intend to put it on! LOL

You may get lucky doing it this way and your crank seal probably won’t leak for 10k miles. But you really should drill out the dowel holes in the cover and center it with the dampener.
Oh, Right Stuff is a far better sealant
