Although its been over a week since the end of the Stanley Cups playoffs and although the Canadians lost to Tampa Bay, this was a special video I really wanted to and over 75% of you who voted in my poll wanted me to do. Going into the NHL Playoffs, there had been three former Wisconsin Badgers to go from college to the playoffs. The badgers have formed a sort of pipeline with the Montreal Canadians with David Maley making the jump in Montreal’s 1986 Stanley Cup-winning season and Sean Hill followed five years later in 1991. The other Badger to make the jump was John Byce who joined the Boston Bruins in 1990. This past year, a fourth badger made their NHL debuted this past season playing for a playoff team when Cole Caufield joined the Montreal Canadians. But who is Cole Caufield?

In the "Who is" series, I go through the backstories of up-and-coming collegiate and professional athletes.

More Hockey Please!!!

You could pick almost anyone from that USDP Team that Caufield and Hughes played on. They were loaded with future NHL stars, which I expect Caufield will be very soon.

As a badgers fan, thanks for covering him. I think college hockey is a really under appreciated sport, so seeing a video covering a college star and a rookie in the NHL is super cool. My favorite player was also a rookie, Kirill Kaprizov. Now that’s an interesting story.
