UBI NOW! Let’s go towards this direction! Not just at experimental level, but as new policies implemented in small communities/municipalities ! 👏🏼 After that, governments will clearly see the advantages of universal basic income!

I used to believe that AI would take over the world, but it's a belief we've been conditioned for a long time.

As a matter of fact, we've been wired for survival for a long time, and now it's time to rewire ourselves for possibilities, including the possibilities of embracing AI.

I'm lucky that I'm 20 and a half so far.

I would for example absolutely love to work a few hours a week and work on big creative projects in my free time.

It's a complex matter. Would UBI address the varying needs and wants across different people (i.e., is it practical, or is it just an ideal like communism?) Who will pay the UBI? How will money flow? Who will have the power over money and sociopolitical decisions if UBI is implemented? How would these people, or entities, be held accountable and audited? Would democracy be compatible with the potential scenarios? We gotta be careful with the decisions we make, and where we head, as they could have considerable impacts over our freedom and possibilities, which capitalism and free markets address well. Lets take time to step back and consider the big picture, carry out a thorough assessment of risks versus benefits and take well informed decisions going forward. Personally, I believe that if we make poor and uninformed decisions, falling for accepting easy money (UBI), society could be deliberately (yet unknowingly) be signing up for reduced liberties and increased control and surveillance. We shouldn't be delegating our own fates to governments, whose main purpose is to control and enforce society. Long live freedom of choice, speech, finances and equal opportunities. Think about it.

Including rich people in this study would have done nothing but wasting money. $1000/month to rich people would have changed absolutely nothing beside making them buy even more expensive Whisky. Useless. This research was well done the way it is.

in a pre automation world,
Giving everybody free money causes inflation because the value of money is decreased in the eyes of the worker, who will now ask more for his work. But in an automated world, there are no workers to ask more for their labour. Therefor if the owners of the automatic workforce don't give everyone a universal income, anybody outside the governing class will have no income. In an automated production scenario, the game shifts from financial management to resource management. We can now produce as much as we want without any labourers, the question then becomes how much wealth can we assign to each individual without destroying the earth.

I think we would all love this, but the missing link is: where would the money come from? The government does NOT make money. It takes money from the people that are working. If less people are working and making money then where would the government get the money?😥 Its a nobel idea, but with the "CURRENT" global money system, I just don't know how it would work. Its like we would have to completely start over with a new system. And here is a question I have always wanted to ask: In the CURRENT system - if we were to have everything we needed paid for, why would anyone want to become a doctor or job that requires years of school, etc? Then what? OR are we saying that at that point we would have AI / Robot Doctors? LOL This makes my brain hurt! 😅 I love the idea, I just don't know how it would work - with the CURRENT system.

Kartik Gada actually has a very interesting perspective on how to implement U.B.I. as the economy will get more automated.

People seeked medical help more often and used less painkillers. You might have missed a connection there.

Machines will do the work that their owners used to have to begrudgingly pay you to do, and you will get nothing. Just ask the Luddites.

This is quite flawed for a number of reasons: it's studying cases for which UBI would conveniently be an upgrade (if corps that lobby for their own interests, invest, compete, etc would ever be willing to do what they could do right now but don't: gift shareholder money which then they'd get from Santa, I guess); it uses low amounts and for a brief period, causing people to be wary. Just a person with interests dangling a carrot to prevent naive people from stopping irreversible global ambitions.

I am seeing a critical flaw that you missed behind that concern that if you give everyone money it would just create inflation. The problem is that that scenario is leaving out the role of the robots. The whole point of UBI here in this context is that the robots will be doing the work for us. They will be providing the value and productivity. That is the missing element. Giving everyone a share of that productivity as a dividend through UBI means less work for us or more money for us to get the things we need and want. And this works out ok even if everyone gets the money. This is because the pool of total productivity doesn't just stay the same - the robots are now going to add a huge new pool of productivity, and we will all be drawing from that.

I would always be traveling and falling in love with someone or something new regularly. New people, new scenery, new adventure, exercising, I’d be all around the world trying different foods, picking up a new language, living my best life. But only if I knew I would always continue receiving a UBI and depending on how much I’d be receiving.

we dont need currupt money systems anymore now we have robots to do the work!

Universal basic income Is such a great and fair idea, it would improve the Life of basically everyone this is why(i think) It Will never be implemented.

Isn’t this just rich nerds version of, if you give us the money, we will spend it better than you. Why not start with fair taxation? What really needs addressing is how much money gets taken out of circulation by rich people hoarding money.

I’m half into the video but I’m wondering whether the company told the participants that they will stop giving them money after 3 years or not or did they just cut the supply suddenly without any warnings because this will hugely impact the psychology of many people if they knew prior to the experiment that they have a limited amount of time until the end of the experiment

And problem is, government doesn't own any money, he gives you back what they take from you as taxes. If they just reduce taxes, people who actually work will get much more money, and people who don't work will be forced to work to get money. Give money to people isn't as good as would think, 3 years is too short to measure the disaster that comes from it.

For Universal Basic Income (UBI) to be successful, each person would need a virtually assigned robot to prevent inflation and monitor economic activities. Additionally, Black individuals often start their own businesses due to discrimination, and because they typically have less disposable income and inheritance compared to white individuals. Addressing these disparities requires targeted policies. It’s crucial to consider these factors in studies like the Unconditional Cash Study by OpenAI and Open Search. Without clear demographic data, the study’s inclusivity and accuracy are questionable.
