100, 000 a year, stack 50, 000 or more if you can live on less, then do the job you want. This ones not delulu.

Honestly, I support this guy 100%
If i could find a less stressful job for half the money I make now, I'm taking it without a second thought.
I work on VFX for hollywood movies as a Rotoanim and Matchmove artist. The pay is nice but... all I'll say is every time I get a project I have to drown myself in anti-depressants and Helex not to pull the trigger.
Health > Money.
Especially your mental health, because there's no fixing that once it's broken. Your body might heal, you can get surgery, prosthetics, physical therapy...
but once your mind's gone, it ain't coming back.

Live in a cubicle as an engineer for 100k/ year. All stress and deadlines. My house is paid off. Still have 16 years until retirement, I totally get this. Maybe a park ranger, something outdoors.

I once had a job where I worked in a hot (or cold) warehouse and in the sun stacking heavy things and loading and unloading trucks all day, and filling out tickets. Honestly one of the best jobs ever, I was never bored, no one micromanaged me and I didn't have to think very hard at all. The day flew by. I have had much higher paying jobs but never a better job.

I was a Mechanical & electrical Fabrication Engineer till my failed health.
Can't blame him as my work was endless with pay that wasn't worth the stress & is a thankless job.
Engineers number less then 15million & are declining with a large fraction coming up for retirement.
I can not blame the fella for taking up a new profession.

Engineers are treated like crap considering how much knowledge, and ability they bring to the table. My BF was literally being eaten alive at his last job, it was an ever-increasing set of expectations, hours, and responsibilities, for minimal raise in pay. The pay can't even compensate you, because they overload you 'til you can't sleep, you can't relax, you can't recharge to even do the work at your peak.
Now he only works three days in an engineering position, and the rest of the week in a record store. He's a thousand percent healthier and happier.

No ambiguity, no extra stress to produce. You just color in the lines rather than having to create the full picture. I don't blame him tbh.

I mean, if he’s happy he’s happy. Can’t really look down on him for doing what makes him happy.

Maxim, this time I have to say, I was in the same situation and I understand him. He is not delulu, believe me.

As an engineer I thought about leaving my job and working an hourly job many times. Yes the pay is good but the stress is crippling. Usually the job is not bad but in most engineering jobs you have to deal with idiot bosses (because they won't promote the smart engineers).

I happily quit a stressful mortgage related job to work a line in a kitchen. I'd done that in college, and it was 2008, so there wasn't going to be a mortgage job come October. Cashed out before the crash and opened my own food truck a few years later after learning everything I could about the business side. I was able to sell that out and retire at 55. And the thing is, I loved it every day and may open another truck if I get too bored.

Fair play to him. I also had a few years in my life when I just couldn't bear the stupidity at my well paying job any more, and went to work at events where no qualification was needed. All my co-workers were students.
And I know someone else who left her banking job, it was so high risk, if she made a mistake she might have ended up in jail. So she went to work for some fast food place, and was the happiest person ever.

I had an engineering job and the stress was unbearable so I quit at age 37 and never got a "real job" again. I am now 63 and still chilling.

TBH, I much rather work a low-pay job I enjoy than a high-pay job I don't enjoy.

Agree with most previous comments. Working for 100k in a cubicle is not always as satisfying as half the pay if you're happy. Like your work instead of working for the weekends.

I've been in similar situations, some by choice, some not. The work where I got paid less, micro-managed way less and left to just do my job were the best jobs ever. Pay was shit but my coworkers were happier, bosses were chill and customers were even nicer. Health overrides money if you are living fine with what you make. Not Delulu at all.

1:12 I don’t wanna go from 100k annually, to 40k, to 0k a year lol, maybe if you give me just the 100k part 😂
