We take a look at SelectedValue Dax through this tutorial using 3 Simple Use Cases.
What is SelectedValue used For? Well in a nutshell it will Return the value when the context for column has been filtered down to one distinct value only else it returns alternate Result.
Lets see the syntax : SELECTEDVALUE(columnName[, alternateResult])
Example 1 of SelectedValue : Whatever the user selects in slicer needs to be displayed in card.
Example 2 of Selected Value: The same measure is displayed in Column inside a table
Example 3 of SelectedValue: Create a measure to dispaly sales data from beginning till that selected Year.
