As a nurse & a science teacher i just would like to share something worth knowing...different ph levels of water cater to different needs of people. It's true that in adults alkaline water is more beneficial because of its health benefits. However in babies, distilled water is recommended because of its sterility. Babies intestinal flora is sensitive compared to adults, that is why distilled water, being the cleanest is recommended to avoid diarrheas in babies. In addition distilled waters are expected to become acidic because of the distillation process they have undergone removing impurities in water contents including minerals. Mineral & alkaline waters on the other hand are less sterile & prone to development of bacteria overtime. In conclusion if we are after cleanliness & sterility go for distilled water & if we are after intake of minerals & more health benefits in adults, go for mineral & alkaline waters😊

Distilled water which undergo a reverse osmosis with below .05(10ppm) to 0 minerals is considered SOFT WATER, while HARD WATER is water packed with minerals 8 and up PH levels. Soft water are somewhat air hungry, it sucks carbon dioxide, and when soft water is exposed to carbon dioxide for about 30 min to 1 hour the ph level usually drops from 7ph level neutral (green) to 5.5 ph level (yellowish) which is still falls under the Philippines standard of acceptable drinking water. In fact in Japan people take PRO BIOTICS to maintain the stomachs PH VALUE/LEVEL to 5.5 to 7 ph level (yakult) and micro granualated Pro Biotic capsules. The good thing about it, is it may have a 5.5 ph level but it is still considered as PURE because it doesn't have minerals such as Calcium Carbonate and Magnesium Carbonate and others that usually builds up in the button of our stainless pots, thermos etc. People who have kidney impairments and liver impairments are advice not to drink mineral water, specially kidney stones are either made of clacium stones or alkaline stones which are abundant in highly alkalai water (bluish color) 8ph level.
Infants are also advice to take distilled because they still have delicate internal organs or developing organs which could not hold too much minerals since their baby formulas milk already contains enough mineral (specially calcium) for their body needs. In the end, it really boils down what you prefer to your babies, depend on your bodies condition (young, old). As the saying goes too much of anything is bad, and lacks of anything is also bad. Balance is the KEY.
