In the MIDDLE of Nowhere...Lost Ancient Civilizations & The Sumerians

It is truly remarkable at just how many ancient sites exist on earth, that you’ve never seen or heard of before. For most anyone, when we think of lost ancient civilizations, they think of sites such as, the Pyramids of Egypt or the perhaps the Great Sphinx.
We think of the circular arrangement of stones that make up Stonehenge in England. We may think of ancient South American sites including Machu Picchu or perhaps the enormous, as well as mysterious puzzle of stones that make up the Sacsayhuaman wall in Peru. Or, maybe we think of the ancient Aztec or Mayan civilizations, and the pyramids that are found in Mesoamerica.
But of course, for people that are more familiar with the topic of Lost Ancient Civilizations, essentially people who research it for fun in their spare time… For them, other, lesser known ancient sites may come to mind…
Such as, the 12,000 year old site of Gobekli Tepe in Turkey, the world’s oldest known Megalithic site, which is a total mystery.
Or perhaps they think of the of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. A very large, and impressive site that wasn’t even rediscovered til the mid-1800’s. And I’m sure some people may think of the Lost City of Petra, located in Jordan. Too few people are aware of this incredible site, which is mostly known for its brief appearance in the final scene of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
So, although some of the sites I just mentioned are not known by say, a majority of people, there are other ancient sites that are virtually unknown to almost anyone, which I’ll be sharing in this video.
In fact, these details that I’m about to share, will really get your mind thinking about how much we don’t know about our ancient past, and more importantly, just how much is waiting to be discovered - and within our own lifetimes…
Let me start off with an example that you may have seen in the news just this past week. Which was the fascinating discovery of lost ancient ruins, in Mosul, Iraq, which was hidden and unknown for at least 3 thousand, 4 hundred years.

The “middle of nowhere, ” was once the middle of somewhere. It was THAT LONG AGO!

Thank you for not having some annoying music track playing over and over in the background. This was interesting!

I wonder if the 'cradle of civilization' wasn't the starting point, but the last spot left on Earth that was habitable after something big happened.

It breaks my heart to see those ruins destroyed! I'm happy though that you had a chance to be there before and take a few pictures. I'm amazed at how little history, especially this ancient history, means to some people

I can’t even describe how upsetting it is to see them destroy such ancient artefacts.

I think we severely underestimated our long lost ancestors in every regard.

I think 90% of Egypt’s wonders are under the sand.
The Great Labyrinth has been found with GPR but no excavations are planned to rescue it.
Ben from UnchartedX does a great video on the evidence for The Great Labyrinth

Make that video Jimmy. My military stint ended 49 years ago. I was navy, so never saw land combat. However I was exposed to many different cultures from Japan to Australia & everything in between (Well except for New Guinea & Java.) I like your curiosity. That's a great thing in a human creature. Always remember, "Doubting the science is what science is all about." (Paraphrasing a high-school teacher there.)

Waiting a month for a 30 minute video is a.... pretty solid trade. Nice! Thanks, Jimmy!

I am from that general region, and there is a ruin near our village no professionals have ever visited, people assume it was a cemetery because it has deep holes with stone walls in the sides. but me being curious about these things discovered after many years of visiting the place that it is actually a Copper refinery factory. It is absolutely insane they use the "holes" to separate different components of Copper ore by directing a water source to flow throw these "holes". There are other chemical operations that you can find, for example, I can distinctively smell Nitric acid in some holes. There must be at least 300 holes deeper than 8 meters, they must have produced tones of Copper each month.

Dear Jimmy, I must congratulate you on your channel. lots of the ideas you are presenting in your videos were available on line all ready 20 years ago, but not only that you are adding evidence and updating with the latest findings, also you consolidate everything that was out there into very coherent, compelling and comprehensive presentations. thank you for that and it seems like your channel is going to earn itself a central place in this paradigm shift. looking forward to hear about your personal experience as a soldier in Iraq.

The destruction of that place was literally a crime against humanity.

It's been long thought by some Biblical scholars that the Garden of Eden is actually located in the Persian gulf. The four rivers mentioned in Genesis have been discovered with two, the Tigris and the Euphrates still being in existence and the other two the Pishon & Gihon being discovered on the continental shelf under the waters of the Persian gulf.

The dramatic change in sea level (after the ice age) coupled with the fact that most ancient civilizations were built near sea level is commonly overlooked. We should focus on determining ancient shore lines and finding underwater ruins.

In my city, during construction work, the workers "discovered" traces of houses and such that were built over, as recently as 1935. At the time, it had only been about 70 years, but almost no one remembered that some old houses had been there. So it's not that much of a stretch to think that no one would remember civilizations from 10k years ago.

Wow, it's unbelievable that they razed that ancient, historic site to the ground -- lost forever. Apparently, whoever destroyed it did not value history and what we can learn from it. So sad. But thank you for sharing the pictures. Just by grace you were able to take those pictures as a record of the colossal walls that once stood in that spot.

I too was able to explore a couple ancient sites in Iraq during my 3 tours in the Air Force. I was able to explore the Ziggurat of UR (Birthplace of Abraham?), and also the ancient city of Babylon. The dining facility sat right on a branch of the Euphrates river. These were amazing sites during such devastating times. Glad I got to see some ancient history.
