ABOUT ME

I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.

At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city s a Police Officer and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]

I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 1200 breeding ewes.

A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.

I watched a few farm vlogs on YouTube and decided I could have a go and now here we are!

Since starting The Sheep Game I have met Lizzy and had two incredible boys Jock and Angus. You will see them all on this channel!

Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

10:19. Super pregnant Lizzie carrying a gate behind everyone standing and talking about dosaging. I know she won’t be coddled and is an iron strong person but …can we just be amazed.

I love the fact you don't try and hide you were doing it wrong! I bet there are not many farmers that admit to that!

Love the fact that you are always learning and sharing your knowledge here with other Shepherds

Your channel is very informative and I appreciate that as you learn, you share for the benefit of other shepherds! Never with the least bit of arrogance, in fact, the opposite! I am not any kind of farmer, I am just someone you entertain, I especially liked the drone footage of your Springbok lambs coming out of the pen!😂🤣💕🇨🇦

Great information! It's always best to follow precautions to avoid getting chemicals on our skin. There are immediate effects but also may be long term effects as well. Very useful information for sure.

It was great to hear what the Elanco reps had to say. Proper personal protective gear is a must.

Cammy, You not only inspire future farmers and wholesome entertainment, but you reach out to so many with your attitude. You show energetic isn't a bad thing, get high on real grass, get away from video games a few hours, care about others. You show you can have ugly setbacks, but you move on quickly. You quickly and completely take the responsibility for mistakes without excuses and move forward. You get embarrassed, tell everyone, but you don't hide it. You work your butt off and then maybe get some pub time in. Your talk and walk respect and care for others (sheep and humans). All this instills so much in young and it is reassuring to older who get tired of the direction society is going. So God Bless you and the family... and the farming community.

What is so special about you Cammy is that you are always learning and you are always willing to adjust the way you are doing things when The Experts give you advice

This is why, one day, you will be an Expert and all that self doubt that you still have will gradually start to fade

I suspect that even then, when you are an Expert, you will continue to learn from others and to pass on what you have learnt

You are a generous Soul

So much to know! All this information is invaluable to the proper/advantageous quality of the flock. Thank you for sharing.

For a non farmer, but living "vicariously " off your podcasts and Vlogs. So informative from your experts (vets), lots of things to be on top of.

Great video, Cammy, and yes, you did do it justice. It's so good to see someone with your experience agree and take on board what is being said and put it into practise. Very interesting about the life long fertility of the lambs from the ewes that lose condition when pregnant. Every day is a learning day.
Thank you for a great and informative video 💜

Education in vet med is ESSENTIAL in running a farm. So many new farmers don’t understand that saving a animal is a gamble if you catch it late, but a guarantee if you have the best medicine knowledge.

A health tale. My dad used to dip sheep with organophosphates by hand pushing them under by hand against all the warnings. I did a few too 🤦‍♂️ He later in life developed muscular dystrophy. Pet collars apparently also caused the same issue. I suspect but will never be able to prove that it was linked. I knew another farmer who couldn’t work if he went near dipped sheep as it affected him so badly.

Sometimes especially if you are a risk taker, you need to force yourself to do the right thing as once these things start to affect you, it’s too late and you end up suffering for life.

I think the vast majority of us are guilty of not doing it correctly.
It's information like this improves the quality of the sheep and a bit more knowledge for the farmers.

That was very interesting Cammy. I’m not a farmer but the explanations made a lot of sense to me. I had no idea just how important things like this are to the developing lambs in the womb but aye, that makes a lot of sense as well.
Great video! 😊
