The reason US have products made in counties that yeilds cheaper cost is to made goods cheaper for US citizens. So tarrifs doesn't make any sense to give US people cheaper products unless you paid the US citizens less salaries.

Other countries aren't reacting negatively to Trump's "reciprocal tariffs" because the taxes "punish" them, but because the taxes on their exports would raise the prices of those goods, making them harder for consumers to afford. So technically, the taxes punish consumers rather than exporters. But if enough consumers can't afford the goods, demand drops dramatically, and that's where the concern for exporters or manufacturers comes in. 🙂
