I like how Tifa the innocent childhod friend is the martial artist and Aerith the somewhat rebellious spunky new kid on the block is the healer. I dunno i just like how their story roles and character classes are swapped around

There's a neat trinity between Cloud, Sephiroth and Tifa's designs as well, likely a show of how Cloud's mental state is juggled between the two. Sephiroth has two pauldrons, a full shirt, leaves his chest bare, has two crossing straps, a large belt and only has two little rings around his wrists for hand armor. Tifa has bared shoulders, a tight sports shirt that only covers her chest, her straps go straight up, a small belt and bulkier armguards with her left larger than her right. On virtually every point Cloud splits the difference, and his real humble roots and Soldier fantasy's are torn between each other.

It's worth pointing out that Tifa is a classic inversion of the Yamato Nadeshiko model femininity from Japanese society. This Is why she holds a lot of 7's home and family vibes like the Nadeshiko, but is presented in a boisterous and in your face manner that challenges that mold. Her asymmetrical hair and outfit, prominent sexualization, hands-on personality, straightforward speech, and even the way her character model _moves_ are reflections of this subversion.

What i always appreciated about Tifa esp in the first half of the game is that a lot of the times she is gauging Cloud, his reactions, whats going on in his head but its done so subtlely that you dont realize it initially. Nothing she says comes across as loaded or there is something implied, she genuinely says things that shows she cares about Cloud or is concerned given whatever part of the story youre in. But after Tifa admits to herself and the viewer shes had suspicions about Cloud but couldnt bring herself to open up about it you realize there is so much depth to her interactions w Cloud

Something I always loved is how everyone always expects Aerith to be the innocent one when she's more feisty than one might expect, and you might expect Tifa to be more of a tough person but she's really caring and kind. I love the FF7 cast so much, what a masterpiece.

She's both a representation of the sanctity and feelihgs of home, and a the desire to protect that home. She's a representstion of Clouds innocence but she's also sexy, she warm and inviting but could beat up anyone, she wants nothing more than peace but is part of eco terrorist organization. That sense of duality is both a reflect of her own troubled story and the world of Final Fantasy 7 as a whole, symbolized best by Seventh Heaven a grimey bar in the slums under sector 7 that is also the most cozy place she knows. Which is later destroyed by the powers that be, just like everything else, Tifa holds dear. They capture all of that in just the subtext of her design.

Tifa's design is to contrast with Aerith cause functionally, Tifa's personality is closer to the classic White mage archetype despite her figure being on display which would make you assume she's outgoing and confident. Tifa is fairly reserved and guarded. Aerith... well as one person put it Aerith is like "catching a disney princess on her Smoke Break"

"How Sephiroth treats women." Okay, the only interaction I can remember Sephiroth even having with a woman is the one where he shish-kabobs Aerith, but to be fair, he basically does that to everyone. Not just women. He's an equal oppurtunity shish-kabob'er.

Tifa, much like an idealized mother, is strong but also soft. She bares her own burdens but desperately tries to help her loved ones through theirs. She’s confident in her body, but humble in her personality. Dang, what a role model
