IMPORTANT NOTE - you should be able to finish the video also with Microbit V1, but you will not be able to read the sound level. Otherwise, it should be the same. Still, it´s recommended to use Microbit V2. It´s just much more fun with all the extra sensors :)

PCBWay is a service for manufacturing custom PCBs. If you click the link above, you will get a coupon for $5, which is exactly the price of 10 pieces of custom PCBs. In that case, you will only pay for shipping. Do you have any experience doing this? Please let me know in the comment section!

Please follow me in this video to see how I have created a simple project using a Microbit board together with the 16x2 character display connected using an I2C connection and displaying data from the onboard sensors - temperature, sound level, and light level. The value is displayed together with a custom character and a simple animated gauge (also using custom characters). No programing involved; just drag logic blocks together. Perfect tutorial for beginners.

Do you have any questions? Suggestions for the next video? Please put those down in the comment section. I try to answer as many questions as I can. Thank you for watching, reading the video description and I hope to see you next time. Good luck with your projects!

Thank you very much indeed for that very impressive video, it is one of the best BBC Micro:bit demos that I have ever seen. I say that being a reasonably experienced MakeCode user myself and it keeps my brain ticking over at my twilight age of 73 years. It will be a long time before I reach your level of knowledge and ability to explain things so clearly though. I use the Micro:bit with my 3 grandchildren as well as for my own amusement. I will be starting to set up this project for myself today hopefully, to check my understanding of your MakeCode. I experiment with various other microcontrollers like the R-Pi Pico and various Arduinos too so please do keep these fascinating videos coming. I am about to watch your next one now.

Fantastic tutorial and first time I've seen different colour backlights on those displays, love the purple. Does the Microbit use the LED matrix itself to calculate the light level ?...cheers !

Thx! Very good video! I never heard of Microbit from Microsoft! I should try one day! 🤔

I would like to see what this board will do in the same setup with external I/O board to measure voltage or an external Thermistor with the multiple pages

Hi Upir, i was inpired by your video to make a gauge for my car. So i bought a microbit and a oled screen. But im a littlebit stuck. I dont know how to make a bar for the gauge and the text is too small to read from a distance. Do you know a way to do custom fonts in microbit and how to make a bar? Thanks!
