Ecuador earthquake Today | Magnitude 5.6 earthquake hits near El Angel | July 25th, 2022

An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 occurred 30 km southwest of Tulcan, Ecuador, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Tulcan, Cantón Tulcán, Provincia del Carchi, Ecuador, in the morning on Monday, July 25th, 2022, at 8:33 am local time.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed at magnitude 5.5.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage.
Moderate shaking probably occurred in El Angel, located 2 km from the epicenter, and San Gabriel, 11 km away.
In Tulcan, located 30 km from the epicenter, Ipiales, 38 km away, Atuntaqui, 47 km away, and Otavalo, 58 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.

Weak shaking might have been felt in Cayambe, located 70 km from the epicenter, Pasto, 96 km away, and Quito, 117 km away.
