When new hires make more than ‘loyal’ employees 👀 #shorts

Pay compression = when employees who’ve been in a job for a long time make less than new hires

We’ve talked before about how pay compression can make employees feel disengaged and unappreciated - employees tend to have a belief that their employer is paying them fairly in comparison to their peers, and ideally they are… but, if they see that you aren’t asking for a higher salary but a new hire is, pay compression can happen.

You need to be negotiating your salary, ensuring your internal increases align with market rates, and if they aren’t, be willing to job hop and get a bigger increase from an external opportunity (if pay is important to you!).

Have you experienced pay compression? Let us know!

Literally happened to me. Been here for a year, took on a bunch of extra responsibilities, do the jobs of multiple people now. Found out that fresh new entry level employees that were recently hired make more than me. Also that a number of other coworkers who have less responsibilities also make more.

Capitalism at its finest.😊

Could you please make a video showing how to talk to your boss regarding pay compression? Or how to address this issue?

The only people who actually don’t want to talk about how much you make is your boss. Which is a shitty system concept meant to prey on an individuals weakness.
I prefer people to be self empowered but being a product of the system myself it can be hard to imagine anything else working.
Stay honest, stay competitive, you’re all worth it👊

NEVER RELY ON THE COMPANY LOOKING OUT FOR YOU!!

Depends if the employee is actually good. I think people get paid more when they job hop because the company thinks they are getting a better deal than they are. But they later find that the new person is not that skilled at all.
