Can’t say i agree. It did take a few weeks to really get into it, but now it basically all makes a great deal of sense.

I am still missing some convenience methods and abilities, but it’s pretty good

I think most people approach Rust as if it were a C-descendant language... it's not. It's an ML with C-style syntax. I guarantee if you play around with OCaml, ML, F#, and maybe a little Haskell, it will start clicking for you.

I had a lot of trouble with Rust when I first tried it out back in 2018, but after working with F# and playing around in Haskell, a lot of it makes sense when I go back to it every now and then.

Borrow checking and lifetimes are based in type theory and are, essentially, extension of the type system. Working in languages that adhere more closely to type theory like, the MLs, really builds more of an intuitive understanding for how everything needs to come together.
