► Greenland is a huge island and an autonomous Danish territory located between the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean. Much of its surface is covered with ice. The majority of its population lives along ice-free coasts and fjords, especially in the southwest. Its position, largely above the Arctic Circle, causes natural phenomena such as the midnight sun in summer and the northern lights in winter.
